ROOMING HOUSE BLUES comics

How do you make a comic soap-opera with an urban edge to it but not with so many characters that it becomes unmanageable?? If anyone knows please tell me? Here's an attempt.

	Hey bartender. You didn't happen to see the change I left on the bar did you?
