ROOMING HOUSE BLUES comics

How do you make a comic soap-opera with an urban edge to it but not with so many characters that it becomes unmanageable?? If anyone knows please tell me? Here's an attempt.

	Like I said he got it good from that biker dude. He was pretty drunk last night too! He musta been crawling around in the dark for quite awhile lookin' for his bed!
