So he gathered a crew to set sail with.

He was the man who conquered the Aztec empire.

After that, Spain and Portugal became fierce rivals(because they tried to stop the other from claiming land in the Americas).
Stupid Portugees.

Then Portugal decided to send Cortes a treaty(an agreement in writing).

It said the Treaty of Tordesillas so it was set in1494.
sure.
It set an imaginary line from North to South Pole at about 50degrees longitude, called the Line of Demarcation.

One day Cortes sailed to the Coaat of Mexico with a small army of 500 soldiers an 16 horses.
What is this mechanism?
The Aztec ruler, Moctezuma, heard a ship off board and sent spies.
Go and check out that ship!
Oooooooookk.
The spies who never seen horses before described Cortes and his army as "Gods on hornless deer".

ThenCortes and his crew went to Tenochtitlan and got greeted by Moctezuma.

But the peace didn't last long because the Spanish soldiers killed Aztecs and Moctezuma.
Die.
ok.
Francisco Pizarro was like Cortes. In 1531, he set sail with a small force of 180 soldiers. He captured and killed Incan rulers. They had guns, cannons, and horses that the North Americans never seen.

First, Spain divided its teretory into provinces and set up a strong government. They were New Spain and Peru.
This is the effect of the European Rule:
North Americans died from overwork,malnutrition,and European diseases.

Mesitos-Spanish & Native American people. Hacienda-A plantationowned by Spaniards or the Catholic Church.
