Bill Dennison at the helm
The stage is mine, you can't make me leave.
Bill, you are a charged party...you can't run the meeting set to decide the charges against you! Get off the stage.
No! This stage belongs to Local 802, not musicians. I'm Local 802, and it's my stage!
What the??????
Hey, Bill, we are New York musicians and this is our Local, our building, and our union. Get off the stage now!
These musicians! Ugh!

I can be a mover and shaker..as long as those lousy musicians don't stand in my way!
But don't you think those guys might know even a little bit about their own business?
Note to self: get rid of this guy.

schaffner lost in thought
Musicians, musicians musicians, I really don't know what they do outside of paying my salary....hmm......
Maybe they're just like dockworkers..no, more like dry cleaners, or maybe ironmongers. Carpenters? Security guards? Taxi drivers?.....
Aha! moment
Whatever.. as long as I've got them thinking Im "concerned".

WORKERS UNITE! PROGRESSIVES FOR DEMOCRACY! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
the dealmaker
OK, the coast is clear, let's make a deal!
OK, I'll pay the musicians less than they're worth, but you and I will have a really cozy relationship.
the dealmaker
You're sure you can deliver again?
Don't worry, those musicians believe anything I tell them...they think I'm "concerned".

Re-Openers
Mary, we haven't cut any deals yet today...how about we re-open a bunch of contracts(even though we don't have to) and arrange givebacks!
What? Isn't a contract a contract? I don't get it.
And besides, what would we tell the players when they notice their pay cut?
What do those musicians know? Just tell them that otherwise, Broadway will be outsourced to Bratislava, okay?
Broadway to Bratislava?
Whatever you say, Jay. I'll do whatever you want. Just as long as I look "concerned" too.
Mary, nobody knows what I know. Trust me.

That's so great that we landed this film! I can't wait to get word to my contractor and hire my orchestra here at home...yeah!!
Ah...just one thing...we're going overseas. The studio said no way.
But the studio guy told me it was fine...I want to be able to stay here and use my players, stay in my own home, work in my own space.
Well, yeah, ahem, but, but...listen. players' health care, taxes, they come out of YOUR package. We go to London, we can split that money. Just you and me, babe.
All set then. Just you and me. Health care for musicians? Tsk, tsk. Just tell your buds that the company wouldn't allow it.
Hmmm.....

She is paying him $69,000 - and he is the one with a tenured, overscale, highly paid job!
