In the year 1863, during the Civil War, Dorothea Dix is the Superintendent of Women Nurses for the Union Army. There she recruits, trains, and places nurses, and also helps tend to the wounded.
This man is dying! Where are my nurses?! Why is no one tending to this soldier?!

Many nurses working for the Union Army saw it fit to treat Union soldiers better than Confederate soldiers.........
That man is a Confederate Soldier. Our first priority should be Union soldiers.
What is she talking about?
...........but not Dorothea Dix. She only saw them as men in need and treated them equally. Many were against her policy of equality, but she stood by it.
He is a man in need, and we must help him first! All men are created equal, and soldiers are no different!

I'm goint to tell everyone what I think about slavery and womans' rights.
She took a horse to the convention to give a speech that she hoped would change peoples' perspective on woman's rights.
She gave her "Ain't I woman" speech and changed many peoples' minds on women and blacks.

there are so many deab soldiers without names. I wish i could help them some how.
I'm dead and my family doesn't know where i'm at.
Abraham Lincoln finds out about Barton's need to help the missing soldiers and decides to help...
I am giving you a letter of approval to set up an office to help find missing soldiers.
Thank you Mr. President! I hope that my search will be successful.
After many long hard years of searching prison after prison, and answering countless letters Barton has done all she can, for now...
Wow! I have identified 22,000 missing soldiers! But i am getting older, i think i shall take a breather now.
I'm not in an unmarked grave anymore, and my family now knows for certain that i'm dead!
