Apocalyptica is cool, but I much prefer their original stuff. The metallica covers are certainly awesome, but I just get reminded how sucky metallica has become.

And I should also mention the album "Angels of Distress" by Shape of Despair. It's more along the lines of what you're asking for in this thread than their other album, but honestly I like the other one better.

Well, really, when it comes to metal, I already know where to look for this kind of stuff. My Dying Bride, Rotting Christ, Therion, Tristania...
