It was the "Us" album... not sure what to think of it so far... I still think my Satriani "Engines of Creation" CD is cooler.

Gabriel's better stuff is his earlier works. Check out "Security" (Gabriel actually wanted it untitled, like his previous three albums, but the record company insisted on naming it something, so they picked "Security"). He kind of lost creative steam after that (although I love "Passion," which was the soundtrack he did for "The Last Temptation of Christ"), even though he finally started becoming more commercially successful with the release of "So" (hmmm, any correlation?).

Skeeter Valentine = hot.

Yeah, Us is almost certainly his weakest effort, though it still has some great stuff on it. I think his best are PG2 and PG4 (known as Security only in the US, simply titled Peter Gabriel like the first three everywhere else). His latest release is the soundtrack album for the film Rabbit Proof Fence. The album is called Long Walk Home and is magic - I love it. Before that was Ovo, soundtrack to the Millennium Dome show of the same name. It is a collaborative effort (PG himself sings only two or three tracks) and is a bit patchy, but again it has a lot of good stuff on it.

Nate, I know you are into electronic instrumentals, so get hold of Birdy, Passion, and Long Walk Home - his three soundtrack albums. For traditional guy-singing-songs type albums, PG2, PG4 and So are my favourites.
