Actually I'm reading more than that now. I read different books depending on my mood and where I happen to be. I read collections of short stories in the bathroom, right before I go to bed, or when I have fifteen minutes to kill (or any time I'm waiting for something like an oil change or doctor's appointment). Novels (fiction and nonfiction) I read during lunch or any time I have more than an hour to kill (which these days is every day). Same goes for the science books or general nonfiction books. Some I finish faster than others. I can read a novel in a few hours (except anything written by S.M. Stirling) and short story collections tend to go fast.
Some books I'm taking my time on because I need to savor every minute of it. I've been reading This is the Way The World Ends for the past four years. At the time, it was the last James Morrow book I hadn't read and I didn't want it to end before he came out with a new one. Fortunately, he just did, so I can finally finish it. Some books I'll take years to read just because it's either short stories/essays that I don't need to worry about remembering what it was all about, or it's something that's easy to pick up a while later (like The Language Police).
So basically, I'm reading all those books, and about a dozen more that I didn't list. The books I listed earlier in this thread (and in Kaenash's) I've long since finished.
If I had a short attention span, I'd not be able to keep all the books apart or be able to sit down reading for as long as I do. Hell, if I had a short attention span I'd never read at all, like my brother. He can't even sit through a movie without looking for something else to do. He also never read comic books, just looked at the pictures. I was at a college reading level in 4th grade. If anything, I need more books to read, which is why boorite and I just hauled back an assload of books from the library sale.
There's only two books I never finished. One was Dies the Fire, which had me wanting to kill every character in the book by chapter 2. I just couldn't sit through another few hundred pages of that crap. The other was Dianetics because it was so fucking retarded. I don't recommend either.
