Why does it matter if I like both? I like reggae too. Which is where ska sort of originated from. 1960's Jamaica is where ska came from (possibly 50's). I like this form of ska as well as what most people from my subculture call ska now.

The answer to your question is that ska sort of bonded with punkrock to form an altered kind of ska. Listen to reel big fish and mighty mighty bosstones for some. For a more harsh punk sound blended with ska, try Less Than Jake.

I like the original form of ska as well as what the mixture of punk and ska has produced. This is probably because I like the two components seperately, so I, of course, like the two put together.

Well, this isnt true for some things...I like some things that if they were put together would be horrible...
