Here's an idea that has been kicking around for a while, which I've been elected to put forward:

Now that we are in another new year, it's time to find out who were the best new users (n00bs, newbs, noobies, whatever you want to call them) who joined Stripcreator in 2003. This will be a quick contest involving only comics created in 2003 by those who joined in 2003. If you joined prior to 2003, but created an alias in 2003, you are not eligible!

Here's how the contest will run:

I'll post a topic, and you PM me the comic number of what you think is your best comic in that category.

All comics submitted must have been created in 2003--no new comics will be accepted. Once the deadline is up for PM's, I'll post the comics and voting will commence. If you don't get your comic PM'ed to me prior to the deadline, then you sit out that round.

Voting is open to anyone. At the end of the voting period, a winner in that category is declared and the next topic is posted with a new PM deadline.

At the end of the contest, all votes cast will be tallied and whomever receives the most votes during the contest across all categories will be crowned Best New Stripper of 2003. The categories will be general enough to ensure a wide array of strippers can participate.

Right - so seeing as this contest needs to start off somewhere, so did all the n00bs who joined in 2003.

The first category is "Best First Strip." PM me the first comic you made on Stripcreator by midnight GMT (13:00 hrs stripcreator time) Wednesday.

Thanks,

Jes, and the rest.

Well, posting this in Comic Showcase instead of RMDC or Comic Competitions should keep it below the radar of some of the riff-raff.

I liked 'em all (even Rabid's!), but I thought Choad's was the best.

p.s. Kinda surprising that more people didn't submit comics.

Hmmm...I will have to say it's a three-way tie. Inflatable_Man, choadwarrior, and smamurai kicked ass on their first ones. Laughinginyourface, you may just be a runner for most improved. Jes needs to make a category called 'Consistently Awesome', because I would swipe that category out from under y'all!

Yes, my first comic was...interesting. It's from an actual mIRC conversation I read. Since that's where Jerk City gets a lot of its content, it seemed appropriate. Maybe as "best imitator of a real comic" it would win.

As for favorite of the batch, mmyers gets my vote.

I really enjoy the unintentional irony of my first comic. I think it makes up for the lack of funny.

I don't know if this is "cheating" or not. My OFFICIAL first one is something straight out of Maxim magazine, and credited to it too.

Here's my second comic, but it's the first one straight from my brain.

Thanks for posting that, MikeyG. I got a PM about that but due to circumstances entirely of my own making I'm not able to look after this little honey as much as I would like.

The next round of strips will, however, definitly be published before 11:45pm GMT Wednesday (this is *roughly* the afternoon for all you North Americans) so any last minute entries, please, PM them to me.

Ok, here are the contenders for best final strip of '03.

Also, I remind you to PM me with the comic number and wait until I post them all together, rather than post them up willy-nilly, as it's fairer and more readable.

Also also, can you post the category you're entering, as some people are still submitting entries for the first category, despite voting having closed. I don't mind you submitting them late (you won't win but it's good to see them), but it's fecking confusing if I don't know what category they're under.

Rant over, here are teh funnies:
