Game times are going to be a bitch really, we'll sort something out, when is everyone's internet peak internet usage?

I decided to make it a best of three affair since sometimes you can just have a completely shit selection of tiles which screws you no matter how amazing you are, also to stop any fracases (w00t!).

I'm more of an 9-5 EST player but if I need to get online when I'm at home, I'll do that too.

I have school until 3:30 EST each weekday. Anything after that will do. Also, not real late in the night.

Sadly, I have no life. I'll work around your schedule.

Uhmm... I have no idea what time zone I'm in... All I know is I'm 2 hours behind SC time. SOOO... I can't between 7pm-4pm SC time Friday-Monday, and then Tuesday-Thursday, meh, whatever.

How is this going to work? Do I need to keep checking this thread or can someone just PM me when I need to set up a game time with them?

It might be easier to set this rule of play:

1. There is no bracket. You have the list: when you see another player online, you challenge him.

1.a. The two players are then "locked" -- no one else can challenge them until their two-out-of three matches are over.

1.b. You also post the number of matches* you've won. You're only allowed to challenge someone who's won the same number as you. This will insure one person doesn't have to win 6 matches just to lose to someone who hasn't played any.

2. The winner will then post his name and new number of games played and remove his defeated opponent's name.

3. This will require re-doing the list to include Y! IDs and number of games won, as below.

How does that sound?

oh, side comment. When I play games and stuff on yahoo, my ID is cgysweetheart, but when I use Y!Messenger and actually login to yahoo, its kitty_from_calgary.

I have no idea where Chi or Choadwarrior are, they usually play and could quite happily be the final two. Then we can use Scy's method, in that you can just play against anyone on the list, then repost the list with both players removed from it and the winner placed at the bottom on a winner list

Well why not use brackets, and pair up chi and choad, if they turn up then they can have a match if not then we could do a lucky loser thing, where everyone posts the points they scored over the three matches, and the person who scored the most points out of the losers of the matches proceeds to the next round.

The thing about brackets is, you're sitting around waiting to meet up with one particular person who may not be online at the same time as you much.

The thing about just playing anyone you happen to find online is that the last two people to play will probably be the last two people because of the fact that they aren't online at the same time.

Perhaps not, if it comes down to it, I'll happily take you all on in a gauntlet style competition, you'll all be schooled anyway.

Someone's going to have to give me an example here. Winner's list? I'm so lost. Is that seperate from the list of players? Someone please show me an example of what the new posting will look like after a challenge has occured.

Kajun--It's a time thing for me. I don't have the flexibility to work around most everyone else's availability, especially considering how long the games and tourney will take and that I'm the westernmost regular, so I've abstained.

I'm usually online early saturday/sunday PST, so I'm happy to play anyone on the side then. (username = choadrules)

Uh...no. Kajun was drunk when he thunk up the tourney so we've got to play it by ear unless some other poor soul wants to take up the helm of running this disaster.

I think people are going with my idea -- sort of a flexible bracket thing. (That's what all those 0's are for.) Kajun said he's fine with it. I've already played one game with kitty; when we play again maybe we'll have the first match victory.

It's a knock-out tournament, like a cup, if you are beaten, you are out.

Hence: BALEETED!

So you play one person and you get eliminated? That doesn't seem fair, since kitty will be the first eliminated and she didn't even get to start with someone of similar skill.

So why then can you only challenge people who have won as many matches as you?

Also, I don't think I like these rules. I withdraw.

It ends up working just like any bracket tournament...

I... hmmm. I SHOULD be insulted for the " similar skill" comment, but I'm not.

I'm going for the "Worst Cunting Literati Player EVAR". I think I have a pretty good chance at getting that, even if its just an award in my heart.

Chicka, you have run a cup before, you know the rules, 16 people start, you have 8 matches and 8 winners, then you have 4 matches and 4 winners and so on until you are left with one match, one winner.

The reason a bracket hasn't been drawn up is that it's harder to arrange to meet one specific person to play than it is to just play the first person you happen to bump into in lounge 14.

Also: "simlar skill"? Even if we did draw up a bracket, why would we only pair together people of "simlar skill"? That doesn't even make the slightest bit of sense to me.
