Okay, here's how I see it:
A newbie is someone who has just arrived to a site, and doesn't know much about the way things work, but is willing to learn, and doesn't really look to cause conflict.
A n00b on the other hand, is troll-lite. They come to the site, refuse to read FAQs, taunt and annoy the people who've been at the site for a good while (see: regs), and generally cause problems, sometimes without meaning it. They simply have little experience, too much arrogance, and probably a bad estrogen / testosterone balance to boot.
A troll, on the other hand, goes to great lengths to create negative emotions, fights, and havoc. n00bs usually share the pain of the board they're causing problems on, and aren't really trying to create them, but trolls are there specifically to create problems.
I love newbies. I dislike n00bs a bit. I hate trolls. Just because you're new doesn't mean you're a n00b.
n00b!
