There are also new outside door open/closed backgrounds as well thanks to Rabid_Weasle. I removed the old exteriors because these ones work as well and look quite a bit nicer. Rabid has also sworn a blood oath to me that he will do the interiors as well sometime soon.

I kind of prefer the old ones too. Drab is a good thing where backgrounds are concerned. Backgrounds exist mostly to establish the scene; they shouldn't be a focus. Some of our louder ones are distracting, and even make it hard to see the characters, which is bad.

But the "characters with legs" argument is a strong one.

I'd like old comics to keep the old backgrounds if for no other reason than that the comic below wouldn't work as well with the new ones. Anyway, if people want to change to the new backgrounds, they can edit their comics, right?

Yeah, I never use characters with legs so I guess I never thought about it, but evil_d's "drab backgrounds are better" argument is completely spot on.

Put me down as two votes to keep the old backgrounds, I even promise I'll start making comics again (or not, depending on what people would consider better).

Aiight, I put them back on.

Probably not worth a post of its own, but I just reorganized the backgrounds pulldown.

It's alphabetized and divided into sections. First section are what I think are the best cartoon backgrounds on the site. The ones new users would probably be most interested in/impressed by.

Second section is for photo backgrounds.

Third section is a mixture of backgrounds that are less all-purpose or not quite as hot looking. Splitters, stuff that doesn't work with all the characters, etc.

Fourth section is for colors.

There are dash ("--------") dividers between the sections. If you save a comic with those selected, it should be the same as selecting the "none" background.

If there are any backgrounds I should move from one section to the other, let me know. I think this makes it a lot less messy.

My considered opinion is that it's rad.
