For the past week it's taken about 2 min. to upload a new comic while it used to only take a few seconds.  Is anyone else having a delay like this?  (My computer functions at normal speed on every site but stripcreator.com)

That's a weird bug.   Can't say I've experienced it.  But then, I've only made one comic in the past couple of weeks.

I've just started having this problem too. After clicking the 'save' button, the window just goes on and on in the 'connecting' mode. Sometimes it results in a failed attempt saying something like "the server has timed out".

Potentially relevant questions:

Which web browsers are you guys using?

If you make comics on more than one computer/device, do you experience the same problem on all of them, or just one?

What's your internet connection like?  Are you behind a corporate firewall?  Using a smartphone/satellite connection instead of a wired broadband connection?

Did you recently install anti-virus software or anything like it?

I've been using Firefox 98% of the time.

Right now I'm using just one computer, but had for awhile been using two. The problem evidenced itself on both.

The problem occurs with either a weak or strong internet connection.

There's no firewall issue, at least that I'm aware of. Nothing like that has changed since before or after the problem began, again... that I'm aware of.

My connection has always been a wireless broadband connection.

I haven't installed any new software of any kind recently.

I have been aware of the idea that S.C. operates better when Explorer is used, but I prefer Firefox, and had never had any problems quite like this before. I did however (now that I think about it), update Firefox a short time ago. I suppose that might be the problem.

I'll switch to Explorer for awhile and see what happens?

Thanks evil_d, your "potentially relevant questions" have led me to a possible cause. I will get back to this forum after checking this possibility out.

I just did a couple of comics on Explorer and am using it right now as well.

I tried to 'save' the first comic, and a connection was never made after 20-30 seconds.

I got the following message instead...

Service Unavailable.

Technical description:
504 Gateway Time-out - The web server is not responding

I've got this message before on Firefox. So, it's looking like I've got the same problem with both browsers.

Hopefully it will go away suddenly, just like it appeared.

Thanks for investigating.

As a web developer, I would never suggest any solution that involved switching to Internet Explorer long-term.  ;)

Since this happens with multiple browsers and multiple computers, it does seem like the issue is with the connection.  But since not everybody is affected, it sounds like the problem is specifically with certain people's connections.  Maybe certain ISPs?

Not much I can do other than suggest possible causes.  Hope it works itself out for you guys.

My web host went batshit mental with the security stick recently and started banning ips that made too many 'requests' to some of my clients sites (similar php error) so I had to keep emailing them to tell them to knock it off,  though I believe Brad hosts his own server or at least has a VM whereas mine is on shared web space,  still though the site may have inadvertantly blocked the connections or certain isps as you said.

Just to rule out any crazy client side have you tried logging out and back in? Anything running in the background, firewall software etc?

About a week or so ago, I began having login problems as well as the problem we've been talking about. I contacted Brad and he suggested a couple of things but resolved it by giving me a new password. Prior to the login problem though, I had not tried logging out and back in to see if the 'comic posting' problem would be fixed.

I'll check that out and see what happens.`

Just a positive note to say that somehow the slowness that I had been experiencing with the 'SAVE COMIC' feature is gone. The feature is now the way it used to be. I press the button and in 2-5 seconds the comic is rendered. Is it back to normal for you too ragu4u?
