Like the demon and Satan say, this contest is about parodying Jack Chick. There are already some really great parodies of Jack Chick online, and I would like to see more. If you post more than one strip, it should continue the same storyline. Generally, it will be hard to write a good parody without using multiple strips, since Chick tracts are longer than one strip in length. So plan to write lots of connected strips.

For examples of other Chick parodies, check out weirdcrap.com, and for the actual Chick tracts, check out chick.com. If you parody a particular tract, please mention which one. Since Chick occasionally changes the URLs to his tracts, be sure to mention it by name. And if you don't parody a particular tract, that's okay too.

If you agree with the theology in Chick tracts, you have probably already run away from stripcreator.com in horror, but just in case there are Chickites here anyway, another option is to just write your own tract. I think Jack Chick is funny, and maybe I won't know the difference from a real parody.

Although I used Satan and a demon in the cartoon, it was just for show. Unlike the fictional characters who introduced this contest, I'm not concerned with preserving Hell's good name. All I care about is that you somehow satirize, lampoon, or parody Jack Chick.

Since this contest may take a bit more work than usual, I'll let it run until Thursday evening.

This one is based on a true experience of mine. I wish I could remember the Christian girl's stupid rant word for word, because it would probably be even funnier. All I can remember is the gist of what she said.

I know there was no mention of Chick in this strip, and for that, whatever clod is running this contest will probably not declare it the winner. But it is something I remembered because of this contest.

Okay, I saw them. It's a tract I've read before, including other parodies of. Although I didn't say anything in the rules about not using Chick's own artwork, it is illegal to use his artwork, and I don't want to encourage illegal activity with this contest. As a matter of record, Chick gets really pissed when people use his artwork, and he takes legal action when people use it on their own sites. So as not to embroil this site in any legal problems with Chick, I will not accept any entries that use Chick's artwork. But in all fairness, I will say that it was funny.

Many funny strips were entered in this contest, and I shall mention a few runner-ups before getting to the winner. I mention them in chronological order.

I liked how, in "One of the Bible's Lesser-Known Lessons," wirthling made use of a Bible verse to support burglary. I looked it up in the Bible, confirming that he didn't make it up. This made his strip all the more impressive. I also like where Jesus says "Word," at the end, because it plays on both street slang and what Jesus is called in the Gospel of John.

I liked how, in "Dougan Tracts make witnessing easy," andydougan parodied a common theme in Chick tracts, that a morally bankrupt person can go to heaven merely by accepting the gospel.

I liked how, in "Love the Jewish People," Bogart parodies Chick's overenthusiastic, Old Testament-based, allegiance to Israel. Chick takes the Bible literally and firmly believes that palestine belongs to the Jews because God gave it to them in the Bible.

I liked how kaufman made tracts for various religions in "Chicklets."

"Get down and boogie with Chick" by DexX was amusing.

I was very impressed with Spankling's attempt to use Chick's own artwork. It was one of the funnier ones, though not quite the funniest. So my disqualification of it didn't affect its chances of winning.

The last strip, "When School's out ... for Jesus!" by Rev. Jim Bob Spittle, was also very amusing, especially since I am a humanist, and I like seeing Chick-style jabs at humanists.

Although there were many funny entries, the winning entry stood above the rest. "A Simple Strip Site" by Big Evil Dan was an excellent parody of a Chick tract.

So the next contest is Big Evil Dan's to run. Since it would be much harder to pick a second-place winner, I'll pick one only if Big Evil Dan hasn't started a new contest by Saturday.
