One of my hobbies is designing cars. I find it very relaxing to noodle around with different styling themes, model ranges, and so on. Over the years I've probably designed hundreds of cars, ranging from godawful to pretty passable, I think. (Of course, I didn't think something was godawful at the time I styled it, but as my skills with the tools have gotten better, my opinion of my past efforts changes accordingly).

Anyway, I figured that I would start this thread as a place where those who care to can post their own efforts at car design, or anything else in the "design" vein (hey, maybe you like to design telephones).

Anyway, here is a current effort of which I am particularly proud:

Nice. What kind of tool are you using, CAD?

I do the black and white work in Micrografx Designer and then color it in Paint Shop Pro.

Is it a 911?

Is it a TT?

Or is it a hybrid of them both?

Im not actually trolling here but i did wonder if those two cars were inspirational for your design.

Actually, I was shooting for a more retro-Jaguar look... though the side sculpting reminds me a lot of an early 50's Buick Skylark.

The vast majority of the cars I've done exhibit a typical aerodynamic wedge -- low front, high rear, with a distinct upward slant in the character lines, like so...

The one I posted earlier is the first time in a while that I have tried something that allows for more of an exotic 60's-style downward slant in the window line.

I do have a very TT-inspired convertable somewhere, but it needs to be revisited -- looking at it now, the proportions are all off.

Hey, don't drink and drive. :-)

But he's not driving. Since he's got his left hand on his beer and his other hand to please himself sexually, someone else has to be doing the driving.

No, he's using the other hand to drive. Bazilla is in the passenger seat, which takes care of the sexual satisfaction.

Let's just say, that I can't afford an imported car, so it must be British, therefore, I'm on the wrong side to be driving.

I drive this way:

My first attempt to make a smooth, streamlined shape in my 3D modelling program. The central part is a tad boxy, but for a first try I think it is pretty good. This is the same program I use to make 3D Tobor. :)

Cool! I'm sure it will seem to smooth out when you add the surface details.

Looks like some kinda space-kazoo dildo.

See, this is like a generational Rorschach test. Gen Y says dildo. We children of the 60s say bong.

Space-kazoo, definitely. Looks a bit uncomfortable for use as a dildo, though. Or am I wrong, Spankling?

The 3D Vector program I have has a lathe option that is well suited for this...

I didn't get too far on this. And some of the rendering got a little messed up. I should do it again with Bryce.

My pure mind has been fouly corupted by you all. I automaticly assumed that's what it was.

It sure as hell ain't gonna generate gravitons by itself.

That's where Spankling comes in.
