Well, I started this contest back on Lowpass, and now that the database issues seem to have been sorted out I feel I can start it officially.

Since we're in the middle of the television sweeps period, the theme for this contest is to illustrate the depths to which networks will sink for ratings. Scandalous TV specials, shocking season finales, whatever you want.

I saved links to all of the images entered on Lowpass on my computer, which I do not have access to (and won't until Monday evening), so feel free to post them again.

Judging will take place Tuesday, unless everything blows up.

Uh, I made an entry for this competition, but it may be in bad taste, so I don't want to post it and get flamed.

However, you can find it here.

Although, if you are offended, I DID warn you, so how 'bout you just get off my case, eh?

You're right, that was in bad taste...

And yet strangely, I'm not particularly affected by it. Chalk it up to media induced desensitization, I suppose.

Yeah, it's not something I thought of and started pissing myself laughing about. It was just an idea that came to me, and although I thought "that's a bit harsh", there just wasn't anything telling me that I shouldn't go ahead anyway. To be honest, the media has made me hate that bastard Will Young more than bin Laden, he ruined a classic Doors song, that BASTARD!

Well yeah, it was harsh... and I didn't really burst out laughing either, but the Osama bin Bellboy image was at least worthy of a little grin.

I suppose the other part of why I wasn't particularly bothered is that you've been around so long that I know you're not just some sorry assed git from across the ocean who bases their entire online persona on how much they hate America.

*Rolls eyes in exaspiration*

Hmmm... you know this reminds me of an idea I had a while back. If I were at all proficient in using Flash or some such other program, I'd make a video featuring people from all the countries of the world (Yes, my own included) singing "Jingo Bells" and place it up online sometime around December.

Clearly an attempt to deal with tragedy through the use of humor... retarded humor.

(What the fuck was with the guys who just sort of got swept up in the wind and floated back up into the air, defying the laws of physics, and floated off to the left of the screen?)

I have no idea. If you look at the SA article, it lampoons the whole video and says how "a giant mutated ciggarette" flies into a big toaster and erupts etc etc etc. It's quite funny... er, in a sense of the word.

In better news, I got Photoshop 5 LE! We had a copy laying around, so I'll be back up photoshoping soon.

Yes, they begin to fall down but then decide to drastically alter their course and start heading west. I imagine they're still floating around somewhere, perhaps in a holding pattern over Canada. If you see Sideways Guy hovering around the sky above you, be sure to shout "there floats a true American hero" and wave. I don't think he'll wave back, as he does not appear to have any functioning joints or limbs, but Sideways Guy will appreciate it nonetheless. He will probably say "aaaaaah!" back to you, in the true spirit of American pride.

Aaaaaah! I am dieing!

The the towers collapsed!!!!!!!!" The author apparently felt that this scene was too horrific and graphic to present to the audience, so he shrewdly decided to edit them out. Note that his use of eight consecutive exclamation points conveys the true shock and horror of this terrifying event. This emphasis suggests that perhaps the viewing audience should acquire a megaphone, hook it up to a studio amplifier, and shout "THEN THE TOWERS COLLAPSED" as loud as they can in an attempt to recreate the effect.
Ho ho ho.

I'm not sure "paranormal phenomenon" can sustain a whole TV series these days. You probably need more than one.

Depends on the phenomenon. If it's a floating wirthling head, maybe it COULD sustain a whole series.

It's been so long that I even don't remember when this thing was originally supposed to be judged, but I didn't even make my latest deadling. So before stripcreator goes down again, I'll have to choose a winner.

There was good stuff all around, but I feel that fuzzyman deserves the prize here. Congrats.
