Very sorry about the bad thread

Alright, I'm lucky I had this idea in store because otherwise I wouldn't be able to formulate a contest so fast.

I want to know exactly what the life of a Vatican Guard is like. You can photoshop anything, but it has to
A) Include a vatican guard, or at least part of one. To determine the validity of the entry, display the source for your guard. As usual, it's easy to google for their goofy pictures and there are other ways of finding their kind on the net.
B) Tell us something about them... in otherwords don't just throw a pic of a VG and Tobor or something... be creative.
C) As always, be funny.

If you can't do this, the skirt the edge of a law-suit again and give me some pictures of a person you dislike with funny editing of the usual sorts.

Or do both.

Here's some sources.

Since I'll be going away for the week on Monday, I'll probably be judging on Sunday... unless there's poor atendance. In that case I'll abdicate judgement to fuzzy again.
I'm sorry, it was bad timing for me... but I will return and win again without having to worry about time!

If you guys are look for more poses of these guys, it'l be fine to at least move their head's and hats around so we know the person is a guard.

BTW thanks for all the nice comments 'bout the last one :-) I just hope I'm a gracious victor.

The ancient traditions required that the guards look as stupid as the queen...

(That guard is a bitch to cut out neatly...)

"That's because I use Vaticlean!"

Continuing the Star Wars theme, without a "moh" in sight (apart from that one, obviously).

Damn, you beat me to that one. I was trying to work out if it would be possible to stick those guys in the shuttle bay of the Death Star, from the opening scenes of Return of the Jedi.

Nice shadows on Vader and Sideous, but the lighting's off.

Two guys, a strong sense of truth and justice, and brightly coloured goofy outfits? It can only mean one thing...

Sideous? Surely you mean Emperor Palpatine...

(Yes, yes, same person, but it's like referring to Luke Skywalker as "Red Five" all the time...)

I'm dead sideous. And stop calling me Shirley!

When is someone going to edit the guards into a World Cup news photo? I'm sure the Vatican could have given Germany a tougher time than the Saudis did. Evin with those silly uniforms.

Knowing that a security job on the Enterprise was, at best, a temporary position, Ensign Smith decided to take positions in the Science, Medical, Engineering and Navigation departments.

I was going for the Darth Darth aproach.

Anyway, I'm in a bit of a pickle. Not much participation lately in the PS forums... anyway, the awards go to

DexX, for his SW guard photos, which looked very nice,
DexX, for his "Vaticlean" photo,
Fuzzy for his "Vaticaction" figurines (where's the black pope super secret colectable figure?!)...

But the grand prize winner is Big Evil Dan for the one that made me laugh-

I also liked the inside ST joke...

Sorry DexX
At this point I'll be leaving for Mass. tomorrow. But I'd like to continue that deep philospohical-logical conversation you started about that test fuzzy posted when I get back if you're still interested though(dexx).

I'm pretty sure that sentance was screwed.

What, me late? I just got Photoshop Pro 7, so any criticisms or suggestions would be appreciated. Especially if someone knows an easier way to clean an image than going through pixel by pixel. I was thinking maybe using the Find the Edge command then using the magic wand (not my real one) to select the picture, but don't know if this will work.

Generally, I use the lasso to do a very rough cutout, with ten pixels or so around the edges. I then copy and paste, and use the eraser (using a brush with a slightly soft edge) to carefully trim away the excess, going to smaller and smaller brushes for the details.

Then I will adjust the colours and play with blurring to make the elements match, and maybe play around with shadowing and lighting to finish it off.

Sounds like what I did. I also have an edge enhancer/dilator that works kind of well. I have the feeling there's an easier way using the highlight edge command, though.

Yeah I know, I cut him way too sharp and tried to compensate with the methods you mentioned. It's a lot better than it was, but it would just be nice to find a way to select its edge directly and not rely on my steady hand. (Read delerium tremens.)
