This sounds interesting. Count me in as #4.

(But I hope I die so I don't have to take over this thing. This "Game Master" is obviously unemployed or manic to have enough time to map this whole thing out. Then again, I once wrote a script to randomly generate the brackets for a comedy cup. Say, that reminds me-it's about time to start up the cup again. That is, if anyone still cares about the comic cup. What was the point of this parenthetical anyway? I don't remember. I suppose I should just wrap this up. So I will. Now. The end. Period.)

The Players are now set. The Game has now begun.

Each Player will be given 24 hours to post their decision. If no decision is posted in that time, that Player will be skipped for that round.

Player 1, The Game is yours.

I'll listen.

(I don't think this is quite the same opening as that other CYOA game about a guy named Brad that starts with him waking up. I'd be disappointed if it were.)

Player 2, The Game is yours.

You may choose to either start from where Player 1 left off (the comic previous to Player 1's death), start from where your decision would have first differed from Player 1's, or start from the beginning.

Wherever you choose to begin, please post the relevant comic, followed by your decision.

In the rules section you said there is only "one way to Beat the Game" though you didn't say how, is this going to be one of those crappy things that never end? Everyone's going to die unless they "Beat the Game" which they can't do because they don't know how to.

Player 2, please hold.

Posit to the Players: There is an alternative to the revolving Player format. Six threads could be set up, one for each Player. Each Player's move count would be incremented for every decision they make. The Player who defeats The Game in the least number of moves is declared Victor.

This version of The Game would allow each Player to begin The Game immediately. However, it would separate the Players, and each Player's thread could not be viewed by other Players.

With the current Revolving Players Version, the wait to play is lengthy, but the Players can converse about The Game. With the latter, each Player will be playing continuously, but alone, and will not have the ability to converse, or learn from the others' mistakes. Also, the latter will require faith that each Player won't enter any Player's thread other than their own.

I will leave it up to the Players. A simple majority will decide it. (In the event of a tie, the format will go unchanged.) Would you rather:

  • Stick with the Revolving Players Version, or
  • Switch to the Individual Games Version?

I'd rather switch to individual games version.
but it would take up alot of room on the comic compititions page.

I think that multiple threads would be the way to go, for sure. And considering that I was going to start "from the beginning" anyways, it works.

I'd prefer to continue with the revolving players version. I think it's easier to implement. I don't mind the wait (but then, I guess that's easy for me to say).

  • Stick with the Revolving Players Version:
    3 votes
  • Switch to the Individual Games Version:
    2 votes.

With Player 5 still to vote.

However, with 3 votes already counted for Sticking with the Revolving Players Version, no matter what Player 5 votes, the result will be same:

We shall Stick with the Revolving Players Version.

For the sake of those Players preferring a faster pace, I have set three constant Update Times. (All times are referenced to Stripcreator's clock.)

    Update Times
    • 3pm
    • 9pm
    • 3am

Starting tomorrow, The Game will be updated everyday at these times if a decision has been made. The Game may also be updated at random times, but the three Update Times are guaranteed each day.

Player 2, The Game is yours.

In good adventure games, the consequences of each action are a logical progression of the choice made. Being inexplicably shot for turning on the light is, quite frankly, a bit crap.

This is actually what I was testing for. My theory? Someone was an idiot, and trying to shoot brad in the dark. Turning on the light gave them the chance to see what they were shooting at.

I agree though that it kinda blows that timing seems to have nothing to do with the results of the actions.

Yeah, but you didn't know that there was someone trying to do the shootery until you had committed to the choice. If there was some kind of clue that there may have been someone in the room before the decision to switch on the light was made, it would have been a lot fairer.
