I don't know if countries other than Australia have this phenomenon, we our countryside is dotted by many instances of The Big [x]. For example, there's:

The Big Merino (in Goulburn):

The Big Pineapple (in Nambour):

The Big Rocking Horse (in Gumeracha):

...not to mention The Big Apple, Earthworm, Yabby (crayfish), and many others.

I would like you to make your own big monument.

Judging in about three days. Have fun!

Atlanta's most infamous landmark (man-made): The Big Chicken

But that's not why it's Atlanta's most infamous, is it?

It's that Pepsi logo, right?

The word of god expressly forbids against these things in Leviticus 11:

-20 All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.
...That was what we were talking about wasn't it?

Oops, wrong verse.

Nah, a merino is a breed of sheep, brought to Oz from the UK by... by... shit, forgotten his name... Farrar? I think it was Farrar... Anyway, it thrives in Aussie conditions and produces shitloads of very high-quality wool. After the gold rush died down, the merino was the next thing to make Australia a lot of money.

They weren't "brought to Oz", they were STOLEN from US! Tell that Farrar guy that some of our ancestors spent lonely nights worrying about their wives and kidds!

The big Vader reminds me and the rest of you East Coasters of James Earl Jones's phone company endorsements. They even used his voice for Directory Assistance, so you'd dial 411 and hear Darth Vader. It was scary.

The best argument I heard for not changing from the name "Bell Atlantic" to "Verizon" was that it doesn't have enough syllables for James Earl Jones to pronounce. But if that were Verizon's biggest problem, I'd be okay with it.

Kudos to DexX

an interesting thing to note is that for those who havn't been there, there is a McDonalds situated on a riverboat directly in front of the St. Louis arch. I'm sure this has been considered.

DexX, for the big concrete boobies.
