I don't know if countries other than Australia have this phenomenon, we our countryside is dotted by many instances of The Big [x]. For example, there's:

The Big Merino (in Goulburn):

The Big Pineapple (in Nambour):

The Big Rocking Horse (in Gumeracha):

...not to mention The Big Apple, Earthworm, Yabby (crayfish), and many others.

I would like you to make your own big monument.

Judging in about three days. Have fun!

evil_d July 9, 2002 8:00 PM	The best argument I heard for not changing from the name "Bell Atlantic" to "Verizon" was that it doesn't have enough syllables for James Earl Jones to pronounce. But if that were Verizon's biggest problem, I'd be okay with it.
