Here's an idea I've had in mind, in one form or another, for almost as long as we've been having comic contests on this site, but never got around to using.

Following are seven template comics. Comics you enter in this contest must have exactly these backgrounds and characters, in these arrangments. All you have to do is supply the text, as much or as little as you want, wherever you want. Putting a "height" prop in any empty spaces is acceptable.

Multiple entries, series, and old comics (if by any wild chance you happen to have old comics that fit these templates) are welcomed.

Judging will take place approximately three days from the date on this post. That's Sunday night/early Monday, Stripcreator time.

Good luck!

Let me repost those last two, because I'm an idiot and forgot about how there's a limit of five comics per post now.

Also,

In case anyone was confused, you don't have to use all of the templates. I just mean that any comic that doesn't use one of these templates isn't legal. You can use the same one over and over if you want.

For some reason, I felt mysteriously compelled to write some really crappy entries. Please forgive me.

139528
(I know, I used the wrong character in this one.)

139529
(How convenient. I even included the grade I'd get for these comics.)

I'll make it up to you, I promise.

Any non-Robyn Hitchcock fan will be left completely confused by this. Actually, fans will be confused too, but we usually are by Wacky Uncle Bob. Apologies in advance.

These are the only funny ones in my series for CC 183, in my opinion. If you want to read the rest, they're available in the typical fashion.

139981

Thanks to everyone who entered.

Honorable mentions go to:

dcomposed and crabby for making semi-coherent series out of these totally unrelated templates.
NeoVid for CC 183: follow the damn template.
TheGovernor for his series.
codehappykid for CC 183: Steakyman.

But victory goes to Rabid_Weasle, for Almost Nothing Can Ruin This Moment.

Congratulations, RW. You're new here, so in case you didn't know, this means it's your job to run comic contest 184. Think up some rules, set a deadline, and pick a winner when the time comes. So get to work!

If RW doesn't start the next contest within a day or so, I'll choose a runner-up from the honorable mentions.

Yeah, Kajun should have won. Poor little fishy. I was going to do one on fish-pinching, but Kajun's was better.

Also, was Nate saying I was a rip-off? I thought the Wonder Twins were fair game.

They closed down the 20,000 Leagues ride at Disneyworld a few years ago. I was sorely disappointed.

Or maybe I was just sore from all that walking.

I'm giving RW a couple more hours....

I don't think it is. I think a healthy turnover rate is important to these contests. That was part of the plan when we first started them. If you don't like the current one, a new one will come along in a couple of days. We should see at least two more contests start by the end of this week; Rabid_Weasle can join one of them for another shot at winning.

That said, I'm transferring responsibility for the next contest to NeoVid, and hoping I don't look like an ass when he decides not to log on today or something.
