Sasha has just found her way to the K101 course-wide forum
Hi everyone, this is the first time I've ever done anything like this. Is anyone else wondering if they've made the right decison?

Hmm... this student needs a confidence boost...

Welcome to the forum, Sasha. It's natural to feel anxious at the beginning of a new course, but hopefully you're excited too
Oh, I didn't expect such a quick and friendly reply
I'm in the same boat as you -don't have a clue what I've let myself in for, but I had an email from my tutor and she sounds really nice
Thanks for your help, guys. I wonder if we'll meet up at any tutorials?

How come some students have already done TMA03 and I'm only just starting TMA02?
I'm the same, hun, I haven't even read all the units yet.
At least I'm not the only one
Me too
I was only getting ahead because I'm moving house next month, but I didn't think it was a race to the finish
He's right - it's not a race, is it, and I am on track with the study calendar after all

7.30 am
I'd better get up and make a start...
9.15 am
... but it is rather early yet...
11.45 am
might as well make an afternoon of it

I can never work out my apostrophes. Such as, do I write "it's" or "its"?
I used to get confused, but I've worked it out now
"it is" can be shortened to "it's" because the aposotrophe stands in for the missing letter...
...but if you write "its", that is a bit like saying "my" or "your", so you could write "the cat licked its whiskers"

Terry has just opened the first K101 package from the OU
Help! I don't know where to start!
What's the problem?
There's a pile of books, DVDs, assessment questions... and then it said to go on the forum and leave a message...
Have you worked your way through the sheet that says "READ ME FIRST"?
Oh... I never thought of that...

Meg was not looking forward to the K101 project fortnight
Try me
I'm not looking forward to this so-called online teamwork
Ah... this is even a bit fun, surfing the web instead of reading the books - I think I'll search on keywords "body image disorders"
Hey Meg, I like your site reviews -what do you think of mine?
I'm glad I had Meg on my team - we could rely on her to add colour to our report
Oh and by the way, I agree with your discussions about the accessibility of some of these sites, and also the way all this information is giving more power to service users

It says here we should limit our exam notes to 20-50 words per unit
mmm
Do you think they really mean that? I think I've done more than that
umm
Well, I really think you should print another one off from the course website, Robo. Have another look at the example on page 128 of Block 6
I suppose ...

Hazel wants her research participants to draw rich pictures of events at work
It doesn't really take very long, and you don't need to be an artist. I'll show you one I did.
Oh dear, I don't like drawing and I'm not very good at it - I'll have to think of some excuse
Hazel shows Shelley a picture she prepared earlier as an example
I'm really scared, but I must stay calm...
She wasn't sure if it had helped
Your events won't be anything like mine, of course
Well.... I'll see how I get on. Nothing interesting ever happens to me

What does it mean to be professional, Suzie?
Well, monkey, it's something to do with having hope for and belief in the profession
What do you think it means to be professional, José?
Ah monkey, you must protect your reputation and be careful who you trust
What do you think it means to be professional, Craig?
It's like doing a big puzzle. You have a vision for how things should be and how the pieces fit together
