Why Art Ed in the 1880's
There is a strong demand for the beautiful, hand-made products produced in England and France here in America.
Yes, we should make sure we are educating our kids to meet that demand in the future by training highly skilled artisans.
Why Art Ed in the 1950's
Russia has launched Sputnik into space.
America must focus on math and science education in order to compete in the space race with Russia.
Why Art Ed in 1990's-present
China's students are scoring much higher in math and science than American kids.
We must make sure we focus on STEM subjects to compete with China.

Education 1880's & 1900's
We need to educate our kids to produce the high quality, hand-made, tasteful products being produced in England & France. Arts Education is important.
Education needs to meet the needs of our industry and be cost effective. Only the basics. Arts education is not important.
Education in the 1930's
After the great depression, we need the arts more than ever to lift the spirits of our people.
Arts Education = Important

Arts Education = Not Important

With the recent contact made with alien cultures, we need people to aide in communication efforts with alien cultures. We need to focus our education on linguistics and visual communications.
