some people are farmer-types, and plan their work and work their plan, and have itineraries.
some people are hunter-types, and seize the moment. i'm not the farmer type.
today the alarm didn't go off and i missed the hearing and the agency judge wouldn't reschedule, but it was a formality anyway since no one ever wins. i can now take the dispute to a real court.
then there was a wounded possum in the back yard so we took it to a lady who runs a possum rehab clinic out in zionsville, and that took up much of the day.
blogging, email, a lot of "process" with my roommates who have been told to move out but aren't gone yet, we explored options, and they continued to try to stall.
i have one cup of coffee left. shoulda gone shopping.

Rom was a big hit, you know, Quark's brother. I spotted him as a ferengi even before I knew who it was. He sang stuff like "Dabo girl, get out of my mind" while Nag and I watched from the doorway.
Naturally I ran into some friends, and we drank some sort of punch at a goth party, so by the time i got to my club i was just drinking coffee.

The wall of separation of church and state is crumbling here at the Supreme Court, soon to have a Catholic majority.
No, no, those are just a few loose bricks falling off the facade.
See! I told you it was just a facade!
No peas, no justice.
It's under control... W sez he called the plumbers
It'll be a couple of weeks if they can get the parts

Today's going pretty well I suppose. I found out the guy who's been saying he's going to buy my house hasn't talked to his loan broker in three weeks, so he's been lying to me.. there were clues.
Mike from redstate said good things about my email, and skepticseye linked to my blog, and the guy at the junkyard should have my transmission soon.
I'm still trying to get my deadbeat roommates to move out. I've been dropping subtle hints.
I didn't revise the memo that's at the top of my to do list, and getting later every day. I didn't write the client letters yet.
Like today, I took their door off the hinges and carried their stuff downstairs.

Courtwatchers, mark your calenders for Tuesday Feb 28th. The court will hear argument in Randall v Sorrell, about whether New Hampshire can ban campaign expenditures.
The fourth circuit had defied the Buckley v Valeo precedent which held the government cannot ban political campaigns.
In other news, the court accepted a case in which New Jersey is suing Delaware about the right to pollute the Delaware river with new factories. What's that?
Oh yeah, Feburary 28th is also the day Anna Nichole Smith's case will be be heard.

Did: texas taxes 400. Electric bill. didn't: Memos.
didn't: xmas shopping.

OK, who wants what for Xmas? It's easier if people tell me what they want, than me trying to guess. A grand, and an easy-bake oven, are both gifts I was able to offer because it was what was asked for

A suicide bomber blew himself up near a major shrine in a northern Afghanistan city Wednesday, and a donkey carrying a land mine exploded near a foreign aid agency's car in a separate incident, police
said.
and so it begins, the war of the donkeys.

Once upon a time, Gabe and Tycho signed a book deal with a guy who ripped them off, and for years there were no Penny Arcade books.
All that got resolved last year, and a deal was inked with Dark Horse comix.
The new book will be at thinkgeek.com shortly (week or two)
What's it called?
Attack of the Bacon Robot
No really, what's it called?

typically i decide in january to track my money better this year, and give up by february.
Sunday: $20 transmission repair $30 dishes from an asian supermarket $10 strip club.
That's $60, which is a lot per day for a vark with no job. If I'd remembered to get gas that'd be an extra $30. But i did get a month's worth of food, so it evens out.
Monday: $10 refridgerator repair, $20 gas $20 at the club. income $300.
Tuesday I slept 12 hours so havent spent much money - estimate $5 laundry.
This space intentionally left blank.

the alito hearings are off with a bang, with tough questions from biden and kennedy. he's holding up well, looks headed for confirmation.
www.scotusblog.com is liveblogging the hearings or see cspan.
The court decided three cases today. A california prisoner waited too long to file a habeus action. Shell and Chevron weren't pricefixing in a joint venture - this case might help explain why shell
gas stations usually charge more than the ones across the street. A georgia man in prison and in a wheelchair can sue georgia for cruel punishment. It's an important case about state's immunity.
Next week, the court will hear argument by jim bopp in Mn Right to Life about campaign finance.
The case is likely to be the first of many narrowing McConnell v FEC.

I started doing myspace and stripcreator around the same time, in 2004. CC310 is to do a comic about myspace.. i'm kind of winging it.
I was, at the time, having a 2d nervous breakdown and needed some kind of community and support, and naturally looked online.
It worked out about as I expected. I made one real friend, an emo kid from california. I got stood up at a coffeehouse, invited to a couple parties and a gallery opening. I met a punk band and got
them a local gig at the emerson theatre. But over time I lost interest. There are too many web pages to keep up with all of them.
www.myspace.com/vark
So if you run into a pink aardvark on myspace who doesn't say much, it's probably me.
That was my myspace experience, but, no punchline, so I won't bother to enter this one.

The Supreme Court yesterday, under the name of Sanders, voted 5-4 to kill a guy.
Anytime the court takes a case from the 9th circuit, look out.
O'Connor was the swing vote, the vote to let the guy swing.
The timing could hardly be worse, coming in the middle of the alito hearings.
It's a reminder that life and death are at stake in who gets named to the court, and every vote counts.
But alito's doing well in the hearings and should skate through, with or without a filibuster.

So far i'm having a very unproductive day, week, month and year.
not counting the illicit sex episode
But i did get my room clean on friday.. first time in a year.
Pile of clothes in one corner, old papers in another, newer papers in a third. Floor swept and mopped.
Sure the whole downstairs is trashed, but it's too cold to go there anyway.
This was going to be one of those comics about how i'm too lazy to do comics, but I didn't get that far.

I was getting my toon fix... ghastly, monkeylaw, friendlyhostility, and from there i usually click in the keenspot box to jump to filthy lies... and it wasn't there!
in the comment box under the strip (wish i knew how to do that) it explains sluggo needs to take time off for his phd, wedding, selfish stuff like that.
What's to become of beefsteak?!!!
Sigh. I guess I'll have to make do with Least I Could Do.

someone to watchovia
today the court announced two cases, and held argument in two more.
we'll skip the one about when a court has diversity jurisdiction over a national bank.. a little too esoteric
scotusblog has more
6-3, the court said the attorney general can't tell oregon not to allow assisted suicide. the dissents suggested that was incompatible with gonzales v raich, which had held the AG could ban medical
medical marijuana in california.
details at ballots.blogspot.com
It was jim bopp v clements in wisconsin right to life v FEC, about is there free speech after McConnell - a very important case.
the other one today was about how much notice does the tax office have to give you before they sell your house out from under you - it's happened to us!

Today the court announced three unanimous cases. We think maybe they're trying to clean off their desks while O'Connor's still here.
In a case about voir dire (jury selection) the court reversed the 9th circuit... same as always.
In Will v Halleck, a guy had his credit card stolen, and it was used to buy kitty porn. So customs came in and took all the computers, which put his wife out of business. Back up your files!
The court ruled that customs used a loophole too soon, when the couple sued them in a constitutional bivens tort. The court said, wait till after trial, then try your loophole again.
In Ayotte, a New Hampster case about parental notification, the court said the lower court messed up by blocking the whole statute while the case moves along.
They could have just blocked the small disputed part. That sounds fair, regardless of how one feels about abortion.

i think i mentioned i havent been sleeping well or getting much done lately.
having the roommate call from jail at 4 am didn't help.
at 9 am she went out for cigarettes and came back 5 hours later. we actually had a nice talk somewhere in there.
i used some of the time to figure out how to update sets here. next i need to learn to save a comic so i can post it to my web page.
by dark she was gone again, said she'd be home 5 hours ago. not waiting up.
they were out of the new stam;ps at the store so i just bought coffee

"Today's indictment proves that we will not tolerate any group that terrorizes the American people, no matter its intentions or objectives"
Oh, like, protecting children from porn? Making airlines safer? Catching Bin Laden?
"Investigating and preventing animal rights ... is one of the FBI's highest domestic priorities."
As an animal with rights, I find that whack.
Dude, we work for Fox, not CNN.
