your harp seal's dead. you can stop stabbing it now.
this has been a test of the random comic layout. it looked like a good set up, but i couldn't bring the funny. it's all in the timing.

this episode sponsored by the classy chassis
i did the laundry and dishes. i chatted with some net friends - good gossip i won't share here. then i went on a quest.
about 14 years ago, before i moved here, i was passing thru town and stopped at a strip club. i've never found the place again - it's probably out of business.
but coming back from bloomington i saw a place that might have been it, so tonight i stopped in.
$6 cover. $5 drinks.
$20 private dance, $100+ vip room.
but for $1 they'll say hello, which is enough. met three nice dancers, might have had meaningful eye contact with one.
not in a hurry to go back, but it was an adventure. on the way home the car broke again. i got back ok.

to do list read fix car make phone call write memo.
coming soon: a duck and mouse grok grokster
i did nothing. i read more ciderhouse rules and had soup. there was a lot of drama here again today.
i caught up on some blogs. slashdot was useless 4/1/05.

recently the court heard oral argument in grokster and supermax.
so recently that transcripts are not up yet.
the controversy has to do with software and marketing that enable copyright infringment, and what standards should be used.
several of the judges were sceptical about becoming technology censors.
we are hoping the court footnotes grok.
supermax is about an ohio quasi-private torture chamber run by cca.

today's webcomic was college roommates from hell. i never quite figured out the plot.
today i did nothing. got up late and now i'm up late. on one of my forums, we were talking about jobs we've had
my last steady job was as a waiter at a tibetan place in indiana
make me one with everything
this one doesn't really work does it? sometimes inspiration hits, sometimes not.
the food was good, the management less so, the customer base wasn't there. it closed. in retrospect, i really liked my coworkers.
excet the one violent psycho, which is why i quit. i think one of the 7 restaurants i've worked at is still open. the dynamic economy sweeps away the old ways.

i could write to mom, do some paperwork, start the memo
i guess it's time to go thru my to do lists, see what i'm missing.
later when it cools down i might start to dig the garden

to do or not to do - there is no try
monday: 1) call the lawyer, fix the thing. 2) get a job. 3) write some letters. 4) maybe buy that pickup truck.
or
1) sleep in. read a bit. 2) read slashdot and webcomics. 3) get drunk at the club 4) listen to the roommates bicker
hey that club sounds fun, can i come?
sorry ninja, need ID for the club.

i'm in chat with a friend. he's saying how it would be useful if, at the noisy bars, we had signs to hold up. he suggested it would make a comic. this is all i came up with for an on the fly response.

by arbi
4-12-05
so my friend and i in chat are contuning this idea about signs. a deck of emoticon playing cards. say in this next scene, a crowded noisy bar:
he attacks with the "drink?' card. she responds with the red circle bar sinister card.
can i buy you a drink?
get lost, hoser
further discussion on the forum.. for those of you reading this who know which forum i mean.

saturday was interesting. started off with roommate drama. note to self, drunks don't make good roommates.
they we went to the munch. fat old kinky people, but i hadn't been for a couple years. had a nice time. big dumpster score of a new wardrobe, then on to the opening of a new head shop on mass ave
so then on sunday and monday i did nothing.
free beer, and it was fun. the result of a myspace invite.
then a leather bar, the 501 eagle, for a charity auction thingy
raccooncreek.blogspot.com
then on to joell's party. http:// groups.yahoo.com/group/ joellsparty
after coming home at 4, i wasn't able to get up at 8 for a trip to look at a barn which is being donated to raccoon creek, if we can get it moved.

today i did the laundry, gave a pretty girl a ride, finally got the handle for the bathtub that's been on my to do list for 6 months.
yesterday i unclogged the sewer pipe, got batteries for the webcam, and some toys that i don't really need.
today the irs sent a certified letter. i doubt it's a refund. i haven't opened it.
had a fight with the roommate about the drama levels being too high.
i've been drinking coffee. i'm stressed. probably not a good time to drive.
to do: bank, chuck, roosevelt deal, shareholder relations letter. that's 4 things. bills. car. make appointments.

hi. i'm a random comic. over at the volokh conspiracy, randy is saying how much he hates Word and likes Wordperfect. Gotta agree.
It looks like you are making a comic. Where would you like to go today? Oops, I just lost your file.
it's been a week or more since my last comic. i'd like to do something about the election, but nothing comes to mind.
blair reelected 37%, tory (not shown) 33%, lib-dems 22%

today the statute of limitations ran in a case i had planned to file for a friend, and never did. today the guy who rents half my house for $300 offered to rent both haves for $500. I can live on $500
so I won't need to get job now, if i don't feel like it.
new major crisis about a leaky pipe and a huge water bill. new major crisis about some continuing education credits last year that didn't get sent to the right office, so they are trying to suspend
my law license and i'll need to go deal with it.
just one thing after another around here. so i didn't get any work done today either. this random comic says it pretty well.

did today: nothing. blogged a little. did yesterday: some notes for the memo, a little shopping, got a tentative verbal offer on the house $5K above the last offer.
punkrocknight seems to have moved away from bubba's bowling alley up to broad ripple, too far. once again i didn't make it to talbot street. i'm about to head over to joell's
i appearred here randomly.
note to self: remember to call mom for mothers day.

randomly, ARBItrarily, we have cthulu standing in for the arbitrary aardvark, and alien gabe as the mike.
choadwarrior, and his alter ego accentuatenegative, are still our favorite characters, i mean strippers.
but alcoac14 is really on a roll today with 20 fresh comics, some of them morbidly funny/sick.
and note the new background. it's getting plenty of play across the stripcreatorverse.
choad is the only stripper linked on our homepage, vark.blogspot.com.
there is no third panel to this comic. but since i don't have paypal, and brad doesn't take e-gold, i'm not a donor. donors get to have 2 panel strips.

did
today i actually got a lot done. i got up early, updated my blog, found a clean shirt, mailed the rent check 10 days late, deposited checks, got to court early, it went ok, paid my lawyer, went to
the continuing ed office, spent some time at the aclu office researching prison litigation,
and visited my female roommate, who is in jail. long story, stay tuned.
bought a box of books about kennedy and a grisham.
didn't
didn't call my mother for mother's day. i'm a bad aardvark.

met with my lawyer today.mostly the same old disagreements on strategy for the big case we are working on. we also had a conference call to the IRS, which is claiming i owe them $150,000.
i make around $5,000 a year, so that could take awhile to pay off.
then i took a bus and my bike to the middle of nowhere to see if my car was still where i left it in a big mud puddle. bad news: it was gone.
more bad news: my bike broke down. i'll get another one from the thrift store, maybe $20.
good news: i found a great grocery store where the bike broke down.
better news: there was a bus stop, the bus came, dropped me off a block from my house.

i hate checking my mail. usually it's threatening letters from some government agency.
yesterday i sent in the gas and electric bills, maybe in time that they won't get shut off.
today i get a letter from social security.
it turns out that i havent worked enough in the last ten years to qualify for disability insurance.
the reason i havent worked enough is that i'm disabled and can't work.
but if i can hold out till i'm 62, i could get $292 a month. if they still have social security by then.

the supreme court decided three cases today, and got them right.
the court upheld ray lupia, which gives religious rights to prisoners, and found author anderson not guilty in the enron scandal
in ulysses tory v the late johnny cochran, the court disolved an injunction against a heckler.
if the suit is moot, you must dispute.

so i googled
maybe next time i'll add some search terms like 'watergate' to limit the results.

also did: updated my blogs, posted to slashdot looking for asspergers syndrome info
did: i took a walk to the store, got coffee and shampoo, $4. don't ever get between an aardvark and his coffee. also took out the trash
did: made a list. didn't: do most of the things on the list yet. i'm mad at my roommate because he hasn't paid the rent yet, but i havent mailed the rent check either.
i kind of have a phobia about phones. and mail. and human contact.
phone rang 4 times. 3x = roomate #1 calling roommate #2, from jail.
other call was from habitat for humanity - they are buying three of my lots and i'm donating two.
i found out most of the hits to my blog come from google searches, where my blog wasn't what they were looking for. oh, that would make a good comic. forthcoming.
that's the third sale this year - enough to meet my meager living expenses.
basicly i wasted the rest of the day online as usual.

by arbi

i figured out how to use the part of my tracker to see where my blog hits are coming from. these were google search terms. some are almost on target - cases or topics i discuss.
underage anime. rlupia.
sex arbi. medical marijuana ashcroft supreme court.
passwords for photobucket.
nootropics susan casey.

i didn't do much today. made a phone call.
fixed some corn on the cob.
with mayo, the way his french ex-wife liked it. he didn't make the mayo himself, like she did - it's tricky.
sent a few emails, updated my blogs, read a bit, hung out in the chat room, went to bed early.
forecast for tomorrow: mor eof the same?

today i ran around doing the things i didn't do yesterday. paid the rent. sent comments to the FEC re internet free speech. did the laundry. cashed a check. printed a deed.
rent $250. ticket #1 $50, #2 $20 #3 $15. lighter $3. laundry $5. ballot access news $14.
today went really well, if by "really well" one means i didn't get a parking ticket while i was inside city hall paying a parking ticket. this was a random comic, but i couldn't find a punchline for
for the squirrel.
i yelled a bank clerk who refused to let me deposit my check. it was a long rough day.
as of yesterday, my law license is suspended until i get the CLE people to send in the paperwork for the courses i took.
i found out today, as i suspected, the $4250 judgment i won is worthless because they didn't serve process on the defendant, which is apparently out of business.

credit card $4150.
monday did: cashed checks, paid off credit card. (i'm free i'm free!) backstory to follow. took out the trash, made yet another call to the doctor, trying to get an appointment. voicemail; phone tag.
also read a supreme court case.
lawn mower $60.
sunday did: after staying up till dawn, i woke at the crack of noon, got high, and cleaned my desk. amid the clutter i found two uncashed checks. one was for 25 times the usual monthly amount.
also went to the woodruff community yard sale, got there late. bought a lawn mower, mowed the lawn.
cover, drink, tips, around $20.
saturday: finally hit that dance club that's been the trendy hot spot for a couple years now. it was ok, i ogled a cute guy. then on to a strip bar then joel's party, featuring more cute guys.
i am a random comic layout. it's too hot out for the usual curtain3 setting.

This morning the Supreme Court announced Gonzales v. Raich. The case upheld the federales' hassling a sick old woman by taking away her medicine, legal under state law.
This cases replaces Wickard v Filburn as the classic example of the court getting the Commerce Clause wrong. It basicly handed the feds police power over the states.
in loving memory of my friend peter mcwilliams, murdered by feds for speaking out about medicinal pot.
It was 6-3, with strong dissents from Thomas and O'Connor, who was joined by the Chief. Scalia concurred seperately.
O'Connor said she wouldn't have voted for medical marijuana, but that the voters' choice should be respected.
Thomas argued brilliantly that this isn't commerce, isn't necessary and isn't proper, so they can't use the necessary and proper clause to extend federal power.
the chief is undergoing chemo for his throat cancer, so he would have benefitted from a yes vote, but did not recuse.

In addition to the landmark gonzales v raich, the supreme decided two more cases. spector v norwiegan cruise line is a boring case about the ADA
the other is Alaska v United States.
Nearly all cases heard by the court are appeals, either from state supreme courts or the us circuit courts of appeal.
Alaska v Unties States, however, invokes the original jurisdiction of the court, because the constitution provides that the court will hear cases in which the parties are a state and the united states
Or cases involving ambassadors and consuls.
And that my friends is why i'd like your vote to be consul from raratonga or nauru or some other place you've never heard of.

see, monday nights are all you can drink for $5. but all i can drink is 3 gin and tonics. more than that, and i'd be puking every morning, like my roommate.
probably a very bad idea to try to make webcomix while plastered, eh?
it's 2:47 am. the club was fun.
on mondays, it's all about the customers. the rest of the week, the focus is on the dancers.
websnark is in a duel with penny arcade, over some documentary.
what did we learn this week?
i think i set the right tone of being friendly and tipping well and went home before i caused any trouble.
well, that websnark is morbidly obese, and still cool?
and that i have more hair than "gabe" and "tycho" put together.
