How would a flat map be any help to knowing elevations and the best routes?
Every point on the marked line of 100 m elevation is 100 m above sea level.
How would it help us picking the best route to take? It is just a flat map.
Closely spaced contour lines represent steep slopes, contour lines that are spaced far apart represent gentle slopes.
Wow! These topographic maps are like fortune tellers! They can tell us where to go without us even being there yet!
I don't think topographic maps are as great as fortune tellers.
