Santa Lucia is the patron saint of Sicily...
And Norway... And Sweden... And a bunch of other countries celebrate "St Lucia Day" too...! She mustn't have been a superstitious saint at all - with the 13th being it... thank God it's NOT a Friday!
Since 1947, Norway sends a Christmas Tree to Britain as a gift each and every year to express gratitude for the help offered by the British people in World War II.
The Feast di Santa Lucia is also celebrated on December 13th in Sicily. St. Lucy, the patron saint of Sicily, gave her sight to God.
She, like... took out her own eyes! Yikes! Gross! And waaaaaay cool!
I'm taking out my braids this year... not quite ready for more yet...
Each year, she rides her incredibly intelligent donkey through the world leaving tiny gifts and sweets for good children.
St. Lucia's Day is Norway's Lussinatten - the longest night during which farm animals TALK...!
(...) amongst themselves though... St. Lucia's stealing Santa's beef - the old coot won't be happy about THAT!
