I generally hate way-off-topic postings in newsgroups and discussion boards, such as this one, but this is a very important cause, and I hope you will take a minute to read my brief description, and then take an hour or so to follow the URL and read the entire story.

Essentially, a freelance advertising artist named Bob Kolody pitched an advertising idea to Coca Cola in the late eighties, and alleges that they later used his ideas without paying him. In trying to challenge their actions in court, he has faced a massive dirty-tricks campaign, and what appears to be extensive corruption in US courtrooms. After ten years, he is still fighting for justice, and the odds he and his associates have faced are both horrifying and infuriating, illustrating that an individual who has been wronged by a large corporation may no longer have a legal voice - the right to equal representation seems to be an illusion.

The full story is here: http://www.GuerrillaNews.com/cocakarma/

It is pretty heavy reading, and will take most readers between one and two hours to read thoroughly, but it is a fascinating story sure to enrage anybody who feels that the rights of The People must be upheld in an ocean of corporate and political corruption.

Thanks for reading. :)

I went to www.coke.com and opened the little virtual chat window. It said "Ask your question". I asked: "What about Bob Kolody". It said "I don't understand your question." So I typed in: "What about the ongoing litigation with Bob Kolody?" It opened a list of FAQ links.

Ha.

I grilled the coke chatbot about the Mormon conspiracy to spike Coca-Cola with LSD (a theory once told to me by a friend who was suffering from a methamphetamine-induced psychosis at the time), but the chatbot feigned ignorance.

There is a much more entertaining (?) chatbot at http://aimovie.warnerbros.com/. I asked it about the Mormon conspiracy and it told me it would ask around for me.

Go talk to Chatbot at the AI website. It has much more stimulating conversation.

Q: Do you like cheese?
A: Yes, I like it. Especially cheddar.

Q: What's your favorite movie?
A: My favorite movie is Starship Trooper. Have you seen it?

Q: Have you ever stuffed a carrot up your ass?
A: I'm sorry but I'm not your type of chatterbot.

Q: Would you like to go set something on fire?
A: No thanks, I don't think I'd like that.

Q: Is wirthling gay?
A: He never told me if he is or not.

Q: Is crabby a homosexual?
A: Maybe.

Q: Have you ever eaten a turd?
A: I don't think I have ever eaten a turd. What's it like?

Q: How many pints are in a gallon?
A: More than you can imagine.

Q: Why does Coke taste like feet?
A: What's the sound of one hand clapping?

Q: Have you ever felched crabby?
A: I think I have felched crabby, but Dr. Richard S. Wallace may have reset my memory.

Chatbot: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Me: I turn tricks down at the docks.
Chatbot: I've never done that. What's it like?
Me: It makes my ass hurt.
Chatbot: In what way?
Me: Like when you've been anally violated with a giant salami.
Chatbot: Interesting comparison.

If they're logging this stuff and my IP address I'm probably going to get arrested for soliciting an algorithm.

When I talk to the bot, each response prints farther to the right until they're completely off the screen.

Stupid bot.

Have you been paying the slightest bit of attention to, for example, Gabe's colossal geek thread? There is no such thing as off-topic here.

My favorite example of this right now is GM foods. Monsanto successfully sued a farmer for intellectual property theft because he let their pollen and seeds blow over onto his land. Monsanto grew miles of GM wheat next to his farm. Some seeds blew over the fence. The farmer, knowing that they were high yield seeds, let nature take it's course and they grew on his land the next year. Monsanto called it stealing and won.

AND YET! A lot of farmers are trying to grow NON-GM food, but are having cross pollination problems with neighboring farmers. GM traits are showing up in a lot of soy and other food that was painstakingly grown to avoid such traits. Can those small farmers sue for violation of their crop by the GM plants? NO!!

This is true: Last weekend, I still had some Coke left over from my New Year's Eve Party (seven months ago). So I poured it on my car battery terminals to eat the corrosion off. I hope the syrup doesn't gunk up the works too much.

I am very very very pissed off...

I posted the original message of this thread on a couple of newsgroups, under the subject "[OT] Way off-topic, but very important..." and guess what?

Some motherfucker has gotten my email account revoked for spamming! I have emailed the email host saying it wasn't spam and they over-reacted, but I don't hold out a lot of hope. I am SOOOOO angry right now. Self-appointed netcops piss me off - delusional self-appointed netcops who don't even know what SPAM is piss me off even more! Not happy!

Coke sued over death squad claims

What do they need death squads for? I thought Colombians liked hellish working conditions.

I liked Caca-Cola's response: "We have nothing to do with those death squads, or those factories, or the manufacture and sale of soft drinks."

BTW, so far this story has managed to escape the notice of our American Free Press, Envy of the World (tm). That is always the way they handle US relations with Colombia (among others). I was following this not too long ago, until it began to drive me insane with rage. For example, the EU Parliament passed a resolution condemning our policy of poisoning Colombian crops in the name of the drug war. Weeks later, the only mention the resolution received in a slew of major newspaper stories on Plan Colombia was a 17th paragraph sentence saying that "Colombian farmers and European Diplomats" were "critical" of the policy.

Our allies' legislature condemns our policy = some farmers and diplomats are critical of it.

There are too many examples of this kind of thing, in this one policy area, from that one time alone, to even recall. So I won't be surprised if the US press scrupulously avoids reporting this or at least downplays it. "The Steelworkers are suing Coke for hiring death squads" = "Some unionists are critical of Coke's labor practices."

Now back to our regular scheduled donkey diddling.

COCA COLA SUES USWA

Coca-Cola Corp. has filed suit against the United Steelworkers of America for illegally using the Coca-Cola trademark in lawsuits and press releases. "See, right here in this legal document, drafted by their own counsel, it says 'Coca-Cola,'" said lawyer Joseph Corporatecocksuckingsycophant. "This is a defamatory infringement on our trademark and corporate image."

In a cease-and-desist letter to the USWA, Coca-Cola promised to grant permission to use their name in these documents if:

* The word "Colombia" were changed to "America's Backyard"

* The word "workers" were changed to "Partners in Prosperity"

* The term "death squads" were changed to "Happy Fun Patrol."

Coke's lawyers also allege that the infingement confuses consumers. "We keep getting calls from outfits like GE and Nike asking if we have any death squads, er, Happy Fun Patrols available."

A Coca-Cola spokesman in Bogota says that the Happy Fun Patrols are largely funded through their sister product, Coca-Coca.
