Hey brad, I was just wondering, did you ever figure out how to do the graphic overlay, as found here: http://creaturecology.com/getcard.asp?ecologist=kaddar&creature=Blork

If so, it'd be pretty easy* to make a "Create-a-character" technique to combine eyes, face, hair, and bodies to make a southpark-esque kaddar-character creator, or at least just one where the same image is used multiple times, but with a blank face, and different facial expressions would be placed over it. This could** save on bandwidth because you'd only have to load 1 "blonde" image, and then load her smile and frown seperately for each panel.

This would absolutely kick ass if implemented. If it's possible that is.

I believe that's just done with CSS positioning, which is pretty straightforward, though it'd be difficult to graft into the current system I think. Ponder ponder.

Understanding absolutely NO technical things, adding facial expressions/clothes/whatnot could be controled by the same drop down boxes already in use, couldn't they?

Like say you go to the kaddar catagory from drop down #1, then to blonde from drop down #2, couldn't there be more drop downs for like eyes, nose, mouth, clothes that display N/A when it comes to other catagories and characters?

Again, I have no idea how the technical stuff (coding and all that) would work on this, so I'm pretty much talking out of my ass.

You know, when I'm making a comic strip I tend to like being able to do things really quickly. While this would allow for a lot more detail and customization, it feels like the proposed idea would make the strip creation process take a billion times longer. That doesn't give me a good feeling.

To attitudechicka: I think there are a lot of internal things to the programming that prevents changing the way comics are displayed, like he'd have to rewrite a lot of stuff for the forums and everything else, but I dunno, I think it'd be cool.

Also, the characters would be optional, so no big problem there drexle... plus if brad made the characters saveable, you could have like a preset catagory, it wouldn't be a problem after say, you made the "Drexle" custom character only once.

Just throwing two pennies into the waterfall again. Even though everything I think of is usually thought of already, I like to see the ideas stated so I know it's been offered.
