I'm redesigning stripcreator -- mostly just layout, but there will be some functionality changes. If you have any particular requests, now is the time to ask for them. You can post them here or e-mail me at brad@stripcreator.com. Rock on, yo.

Brad.

Can you make it so that we can embed animated gifs and horrible MIDI files?

You can actually already use animated gifs, but I'd have to add some. There used to be a bouncing tennis ball, but I eradicated it.

You already have the functional changes in mind? You're just looking for layout? I'm guessing you're already putting the FAQ in and would include scores and going back to edit comics if it was easy enough.

How 'bout a special contest forum that lets you vote on entries at the top of each thread. This would need to display entries that make it in after a start time and before a stop time, and provide a radio button under each to indicate your vote. A submit button would cut down on votes being cast prematurely. It would need to limit each ID to 1 vote per, maybe let a contest admin provide a legitimate list of judges and participants. Could this all be done with [] tags? Am I blowing blue flames out me ass?

If you type a lot of text into a narration box, it previews fine, but then upon saving, the program truncates it to a certain height. Can you, if not able to relax that truncation restriction, at least adjust the previewer so that the cartoonist knows what will really show up?

Right now I just want to redesign what currently exists. The main things I want to fix are the comic lists -- they're ugly as hell and hard to navigate, etc. I'm open to other changes if people have any. I just want to clean it up and make it a bit easier to navigate.

That's a cool idea. I'll put this on my list of things to give a shot at afterwards. I'm not currently doing anything to the forums, just the main site, but it'll probably come afterwards.

Placing the forum swapping pull down and "Post A New Topic" link to the top as well as the bottom of each form (and within the threads) would make navigating easier.

I want the strip creator to do my taxes. And blow me. If you can't have it do my taxes, I would be willing to settle for it blowing me.

Oh yeah, and we need to have a link to the strip creator from the forums. (Or is there one somewhere that I'm missing?)

And also links from the comics list to the full comic list and to the forums.

I want the strip creator to decide who lives and who dies.

When you do get around to working on the forums, (1) we can specify a "home page" in our preferences, but it never shows up anywhere -- used to be that your name was turned into a link when you posted -- and (2) there's a bug where the main list posts a link to an extra page of replies before one actually exists. This gets worse as the topic gets longer, so I'm guessing that somewhere the reply count gets divided by 29 when it should be 30, or something along those lines.

As for the part of the site that has to do with actual comics... I feel obligated to ask for "a voting system based on averages rather than totals", even though I know this discussion has been had before.

I would agree with evil_d here about the averages versus totals. Perhaps you could track them both?

Use Weighted Avg? (a comic with 2 10s and 2 votes is listed above a comic with 1 10 and 1 vote. Show raw numbers too?

Maybe show a graph like hotornot.com does for user results. (I had my cat's picture up for a week before they pulled it - she got a 6.5.) The graph shows how many 10s you got, how many 9s and so on. Don't show this by default (too busy). Make a person click the graph link next to a comic title to see result details.

Just blathering.

I stand corrected - a 6.2.

Not bad for a cat.

"Thanks" to having to use public computers, I've realized that I'd love to have a way to log out of Stripcreator, so there's no chance of someone else using my account when it's still technically logged in.

I'd like more room for the personal info that currently displys over people's comic lists, or a "suggested reading" thing that allows you to list your favorite suggested stripcreator authors and link to them, or both!
