Could someone make a background that's pretty plain, and then a second background that's the same with a lighbulb above where the character would stand, and a third where the other character would stand? Like plain background (1), then one lightbulb left (2), then one lightbulb right (3)? If I had any artistic skills, I'd give it a shot, but I'm not so sure I'd be able to do it.

Not all characters are the same height, so it'd be kinda restricted, you'd be better off just making a character with a bulb.

Also, there's a lamp in the bedroom background, isn't there?

I meant like an idea lightbulb. So that the person could have a cartoonish idea. Why must you hate all my ideas, Kajun, why?

I think this idea is more along the lines of what brad could add... like having SC comic specific image codes for things like light bulbs..

[addimg=lightbulb] or

[addimg=Giant exclamation point]

also could have generic smilies for those comics about chat rooms. haahah.

(pondering the implications of this suggestion)

I like Kaddar's idea and I don't think it'd be too hard to implement... maybe. Hmm.

Nice!

That's the first thing I thought of too, but didn't think you'd go for it.

Using a variation of the BBCode could end up being a good thing, or a disaster. I think it would certainly add a new dimension to comic contests and the like, and it would give the users more freedom to express emotion and character mindsets.

At the same time, it could lead to massive amounts of suck comics with no real content, just a buttload of form-lacking garbage. The idea of characters with lightbulbs over their heads is certainly interesting, but it does lead to a stifle and somewhat of a limitation.

Really, what got my attention was the idea to use some sort of code or something to add small graphics into the comics, aside from the characters themselves. Before that, I was not quite as interested in this possibility.

The problem I've thought of with this is that the images wouldn't show up on the make page. Only after they were saved, which makes it less awesome in my mind.

How about a "preview comic" feature along with it?

I agree that this would be a great feature, of course, with such an awsome feature, people could just take the risk of making less awsome comics by mistake if you didn't have time to add the preview screen, brad.

Maybe you could have some sort of program that eliminates it if you make one of 20 common errors. Something along those lines.

like anti-lamer code? :D

you could have all kinds of cool secondary accessory images, like chicka's lightbulb / a thought bubble with a scratchy line in it indicating frustration or confusion / a heart / a broken heart / etc. oh well. it COULD/(probably)WOULD lead to more Doug-esque comics though.

for chicka <3

I was thinking it would be inside the text code so that you could do it as a thought bubble or speech.

Another prop I just thought would be nice, is of a sign. I know there's been a couple times when I wanted one.

itd be cool to have a sign where it would put your text inside it

I thought of that as well, but that would be more work. Since it would essentially have to replace the character with a pole, and then get rid of the little triangle, and put the voice "bubble" on top on the pole.

And sign character would be easier, and look nicer.

While we're at it, why not ask for round speech bubbles, adjustable cel counts, and hell, free money from brad's bank account.
