Friendly piece of advice, Deisel:

Don't try so hard.

In trying to ingratiate yourself into another's culture, often you alienate yourself instead. (I've probably already done this here myself, but I do also know how to vanish back into the shadows.)

If I were you, I'd "drop off the face of the earth" for a few weeks. (I don't mean this literally, just figuratively, as in: don't post.) Give your flame-fest a little time to ease down into embers. When you return (in a few weeks), don't wave your arms about saying, "Hi, remember me??" because chances are, they will.

Less is more.
