I really fucking hate IMDb now. Not that it's a bad source of information... If you want to find out about basically any movie, you can go there. But if you go to the boards, you better think exactly what everyone else thinks.

A lot of assholes will emasculate you if you hate a movie everyone likes (like Eternal Sunshine for me) or if you like a movie everyone hates (Two Lane Blacktop for me), and then you get intense shit for it. Some people just dodge adressing your ideas and go straight for YOU. Some asshole named Kiuchiyu thinks that I'm the son of Pauline Kael because I know so much and then made fun of me AND Kael.

If it couldn't get any worse, the administrators are never there and even when they are, they do stupid farking things. They recently deleted ALL of my posts, something that I'm still really pissed about. They gave me no warnings and no reason. They just deleted them. I never say anything offensive, and I mostly don't troll.

So fuck you, IMDb. Fuck you in your fucking ass.

MikeyG May 19, 2004 12:30 PM	I use IMDB for any movie information I need. Any time I want to know who is in a movie, etc., I got there. I wouldn't visit the boards there if you paid me. I've met quite a few movie geeks that were just a little too insane for my taste. And I thought I loved movies until some kid recited the frigging production crew for Better Off Dead.

Rotten Tomatoes is my source of movies news, reviews, previews, etc...I've never been to IMDB and rarely have visited Rotten Tomatoes Message Boards, so I cannot tell you its a better place to go, but I believe that it is one of the better Movie sites. My favorite thing is how they take all movie reviews and give the film a percent. That makes it quite easy for me, rather than having to read all the reviews. They also have a list of all of the films on the site(Which, I believe, is every film ever recorded.) and what order they come in (From Best To Worst.) via percentage and how many reviews were taken. A wonderful place.

There seem to be a lot of smug, condescending people on movie forums. They say things like "You liked the new Matrix movie? Oh my, ha ha, how stupid and common of you" or "Well, of course, the LOTR movies are total shit, that's a given, ha, har." It would be fun if you could dump five hundred pounds of bird shit on someone while they're sitting at their computer congratulating themselves for being above the parade of sheep who enjoy going to see movies that are actually fun to watch.

Here's a true Gamefaqs moment:
I posted a thread about a movie. It was a documentary... possibly Bowling For Columbine but I think it was something else. Anyway, I said in my post, totally jokingly, "if you've got the brainpower to check it out, check it out!" That was a bad move on my part. This kid rips on me: "Fuck you. Not all videogamers are stupid. We have more brainpower than to go see a stupid movie. I like videogames, okay? It doesn't dull my brain!" The fool failed to realise that I also like videogames. Fuck, why the hell would I be going to game-related board if I didn't? Anyway, the kid kept getting totally defensive, even though I was trying to be somewhat nonconfrontational about it (I used to be like that). But it just kept coming on until I just up and left.

Gamefaqs people are defensive, yes. They also can't take a joke (which I've noticed some people on SC and other boards can't do either.) They also have tons of fanboys. IMDb, however, has so many trolls they'd make MaKK blush. It's sad, really... say for instance you went to a board for a movie you liked... Eternal Sunshine. People like that movie. No matter what, there's gonna be two or three people who come in and totally rag on it for nonexistant reasons. This happens often on Woody Allen movies and movies that don't contain the word "Lord" or "Rings" in the title.

There's another thing. LOTR trolls. God damn these fucking pricks. Do you happen to like, say, the Star Wars trillogy or the Godfather series over LOTR? BLAM YOU TO HELL!!!! These disturbingly consistent giga-nerd fuckwads go to any movie... ANY! and say that LOTR is better. Dude. Return of the King and The Godfather Pt.II have NOTHING IN FUCKING COMMON, if you don't count the fact that Francis Ford Coppola and Peter Jackson are very corpulent directors.

yeah. a punk kid, if that translates roughly to about 30 punk users. I use the term users because a lot of these people are older, especially on IMDb. Of course, there are cool guys on IMDb, but the bad outnumbers the good here.
