Okay, it's been talked about already and you may have stated your opinion, but please vote again.

Proposition CC2 states that another Comic Contest Forum be created for the "lesser" contests, like Finish This Comic, Begin This Comic, World's Worst, What are the Rules to this Comic, Serial Comic etc. so that the original ideals, like the Comic Contest and the Comic Cup be held in the highest regard like they should.

So vote YES on Proposition CC2, or be damned forever!

Nothing personal, Kajun, but I can't understand why anyone else would even think of supporting separate forums for the contests you like, and for the ones you don't like. I don't think anyone since before Copernicus has suggested the world revolves around you.

For that matter, I don't fully understand why you'd vote for it. I'd much rather have the clutter within one forum on a general subject, with threads I could choose to skip, than the clutter of a whole 'nother forum.

But maybe I'm just weird.

I'd agree with you Kaufman if it seemed like only Kajun was supporting the idea but it seems, at least to me, that most people are supporting the idea of separate forums.

I also think you hit the nail on the head when you said "clutter". It seems like most want a less cluttered forum for the more competitive contests and that seems to be the issue.

Isn't more than one identical contest forum more cluttered? Isn't the "newbie contest" in RMDC rather than in its proper place disorganized clutter? Isn't ease of access a reduction of clutter? And what makes a contest competitive? I really don't see the distinction, other than I find some more interesting to me than others. But that spans within, not across contest categories.

The reason why I refer to some comic competitions as "lesser" is because they're redundant and unwarranted. Most of the competitions we've got going on ought to just be part of the original Comic Contest. World's Worst is a great example because it was an installment of the original CC.

When I look at these other competitions, I think "Here's a competition that was started by someone unclear on the concept of the Comic Contest. Someone who didn't think he should have to wait until he won a contest to start one." If I wanted to see another World's Worst contest I'd just wait until I won a CC and then make one (there's no rule that says that the same idea can't be used twice; it's pretty much certain to happen sooner or later, if it hasn't already). If I had a great idea for a "Rewrite this comic with different graphics" contest, I'd wait until I won a CC and then make one. I could start a new "type" of competition, and since I'm an old hand around here I doubt anybody would say anything to me about it. But I don't, because I know the first little thing about self-restraint, and I know that my particular ideas don't deserve special treatment any more than anyone else's.

You could argue that the fact that people enter these competitions means they have popular support and therefore should stay around. But the truth, illustrated by the abortive "BCC" and "MINSA" competitions, is that people will enter pretty much anything. Eventually we'll have so many competitions that the ratio of competition types to users is so bad that there's no substance in any of them. And even then, people will keep creating more, just because they want their own vanity competition.

These competitions clutter the forum and dilute the original CC. If it were up to me, I'd do away with them all and tell everyone to keep it in the original CC where it belongs. In comparison, I don't think stuffing the lesser competitions in some forum ("Theme Competitions"?) where the rest of us can pretend they don't exist is such an unreasonable request.

The 'variety' is inherent in the original CC itself - the rules change every time someone wins and makes a new one. There is no 'variety' in FTC, BTC, WW or whatever you call them because they're all one-rule competitions which never change. It is precisely because they are unoriginal and stale that they should be banished somewhere else.

What's more, if this trend of start-yer-own-contest continues, we'll end up with the Quizilla scenario - what started off as a nice place to make your own quizzes has degenerated into a "wouLd I daTe you????!?!?!" slush pile where real quizzes are few and far between. You have to sift through so much to get to something worthwhile that in the end you give up.

It's not as if anyone's proposing to ban these competitions - all we're asking is that they be housed somewhere else to prevent the Comic Competition thread being clogged up with ego trips.

I think we need a Stripcreator Ruling Council to decide these things. The SRC will consist of a non-rotating membership of Kajun, Kaufman, Chicka, Perm, DX, Crabby, Spankling, Big Evil Dan, Boorite, habnem, andydougan, myself and a rotating member who is the current Cup champion. Makk_Benn would also be a member of the SRC, but his vote wouldn't count. Chicka gets two votes. Bazilla, Boinky, and Unfum are honorary SRC members who get to vote on odd Thursdays.

Brad will be Supreme Emperor and will be the tie breaking vote and hold non-overridable veto power over any of the SRC's decisions.

The SRC will have the power to define and charter new competitions, and cancel or revoke uninteresting or unworthy competitions. The SRC will also be able to review competition results and override the award of "winner" if the SRC deems the winning entry to be not funny enough. In which case the SRC will designate the new winner or start the next competition itself if no entrants are found to be sufficiently funny as to warrant running a competition.

There will also be an SRC in absentia consisting of wirthing, gabe, Ladyj, descolada, Neovid, DexX, Skagg, drexle, Jael, and Lara7. The SRCIA will have the power to depose the SRC and take control if they all happen to show up and agree to do so.

Actually, I am yanking your chain, and I really don't think there should be a ruling council. Forget I said anything.

That Tom Bombadil comic is genius. If only we could bottle that. If only we could put it into a fire extinguisher and spray the competitions forum with it liberally. Then I might not complain so much.

Here's the deal: I won a comic contest many moons ago (for the sake of my ego, I'll point out that I've won quite a few), the theme for the next contest was that you had to make a series of comics involving Horse and Bear in some kind of crime caper, if I were to make a contest where all you did was make comics using these characters again and again and again and again and again, it'd become boring, which (in my opinion) is what the FTC, BTC, WW have become. If you want to use one particular CC idea to death, then fair enough, but all I'm asking is that you have you're own forum to do so, and I seem to have gained enough support to suggest you do so, so please, do so.

Kaufman: if it were just me who was bitching and moaning about the abundance of stupid meaningless contests, I'd agree with you, but it isn't , I appear to have the majority, so I don't see why I should be put into a bold font or even capitalised.
