"Keep it" in what way? You can save a copy of it to your hard drive, if that's what you mean. You can't go around pretending that you drew the characters. Whether or not you can reprint it in another medium is kind of a legal gray area that we're not really sure about. So far we haven't done so, and I think you should probably ask the original artists for permission if you wanted to do something like that.

You don't save it onto my hard rive you save it onto yours. To do that take a screen capture of the area using Paint Shop Pro or something similar.

If you're using Internet Explorer I imagine you could also save the web page as type "Web page, complete".

Brad may be busy. If you want to ask him about it, you could send a polite e-mail to the address listed at http://www.stripcreator.com/faq.php#questions .

so nobody has gotten a waiver from the orginal artists? on the one hand, im a lawyer, on the other hand, i'm crazy, retired, not licensed in stripcreatorland, so at most i ask questions and speculate. choadwarrior's character seems to be a suit, maybe he'd have an opinion, more likely wouldn't want to comment.
i just made a strip that raises some of the copyright issues, so i thought i'd check in.

Oh Jesus. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure Brad has permission from the creators of the artwork, like Diesel Sweeties and Penny Arcade, to use their characters as we see fit.

I believe attempts were made to get permission to use Homestar Runner characters, but the requests were denied. There can be no copyright issue on a site that allows you to use other people's artwork to create a comic strip. I suggest that anything you don't want stolen, you don't turn into a comic strip. Plain and simple.

I didn't say we didn't have permission to use the graphics on this site. Of course we do. All of the art you can use to make a comic on this site is donated and some of it is even in the public domain.

Several times it has been suggested that we compile some of the higher-quality strips in printed form. So far we haven't done that because we're not sure our permission to use the art extends that far. I tend to think that it doesn't and that we'd have to check with all of the art donors if we wanted to use their art that way.

If you want to read a long, aggravating, and eventually rambling thread about copyright and Stripcreator, knock yourself out.

copyright question

Whatever the question is, NO. I've seen "stripcreator.com is illegal" and it's not happening again. I know judo.
