I missed the federal election because I was 17, but there's a local one coming up soon. I guess I'll be working my way up.

You could always cast a write-in vote for Abe Vigoda.

Spankling, I go to college in a swing-county of the swing state of New Hampshire, and a lot of kids have had trouble voting due to being out-of-state or having out-of-state licenses. They threaten our financial aid and tell us we have to change the state on our licenses before we can vote, even if we had voted in the January Democratic Primary. It's really disgusting. There was a meeting a couple nights ago and the town-hall moderator was there and I think it went well, so things might be okay now, but a week ago a lot of people were being turned away when they tried to register. :-(

....

PS: SVKomix has AIDS.

The only person who stopped me from exercising my right to vote was me. I was out of town for amonth, unaware that I was going to go right past the registration deadline. I think I'm going to have myself arrested for denying me my right to vote.

Oh well, one less write-in vote for Bob Backlund.

What does it say when the Democratic base is so stupid and uniformed they have to be handheld and condescended to in order for them to figure out how to vote. If you can't manage that, there's no way you have an informed opinion. It should be hard to vote. Not every idiot should be able to do it.

Dear stupid people,
Don't forget to vote, since most stupid people will end up voting Democratic. Attached is enough information to give you a 50% of not screwing up. I pray that your idiot minds can concentrate on these instructions long enough for you to cast your vote.

On BBC Radio 5 tonight there was a phone-in debate about which candidate the latest Bin Laden tape "helped" most.

The pundits were a guy calling himself Shaun Steel representing the Republicans, and a guy who writes for Malcom In The Middle representing the Democrats.

The "Republican" would not shut up.

The poor presenter kept having to try and shout him down all the time and I mean all the time. Even when it was obvious he was being turned down he kept on ranting like he wasn't listening. I swear it was like the guy would be invited to interject then take his headphones off and rant at the mike and not pay one bit of attention to the presenter.

He went on about "100 million Moslems worldwide[sic] being schooled in anti-Western values ready to wage Fascist-Jihad" He avoided the questions. His every statement provoked fear and paranoia which was baseless.

When challenged on the very real fact that previous Republican administraions had armed Saddam he sidestepped. The guy could not see in any other shades than black and white, and even then he was trying to paint the black over to suit his own view.

Anyway the whole thing made me frightened and angry. Unless Rush Limbaugh and ClearChannel is a secret leftwing conspiracy designed to make articulate Republicans look stupid and undermine real political debate.

There used to be real Republicans. you could count on them to be fiscally responsible even if they did favor fat cats. They're almost all dead now. What we have instead is the American Taliban... Talibaptists.

That's absurd, biped. The modern Republican doesn't eat babies because they know that when the child grows up, they'll need to send them off to war (to die there).

Well, y'know, who doesn't eat babies? Especially thinly sliced and between two warm slices of Italian bread with a little lettuce and just a pinch of tomato. The Baltimore Sun gave my Sandwiche d'Bebe 5 stars in their review of my restaurant, Fidel Bistro.
