I really didn't know Pantera's music at all, but I knew of Dimebag Darrell because of his line of Washburn guitars. I figure someone's got to be pretty big to get his own line of guitars.

So when I heard the news, I was shocked in a way that still surprises me. It's not like I knew or cared for the guy or his music, but it still felt personal. I'm not even a sound man anymore and haven't played out since 1996. But still, damn, some fucker shot up a rock show and killed a famous guitar player. Something about that feels deeply fucked up to me, moreso than if someone shot, say, the Prime Minister of Qatar or something. Political killings at least make a sort of sense.

Last thing I expected was Dimebag's obit thread to devolve almost instantly into a personal flamewar. But that's what I come here for, surprises.

I agree fully with Inflatable on this one. It's bad enough that people can't take dark humor in real life, but on a fucking internet humor site? Come the fuck on, people. bunner's not the first person on this site who can't "take" some "offensive" jokes. Hell, fucking attitudechicka sent me a flaming PM about how I shouldn't post my opinion of the winner in a comic contest*, even though it was clearly a joke and was not meant to (and didn't) influence the hosts in any way.
