Actually, it rocks. However, are there any NIN fans who are disgruntled with the band's new release? I found it to be quite excellent, but I've heard a lot of mixed opinions.

I think it is excellent. I still reckon "The Downward Spiral" wins out, but "With Teeth" is its nearest contender by quite a distance.

I've heard a lot of good things. Seeing as we have kids that come into the store (I work in a music store) we can't play it IN the store, but at the listening posts there's a copy.

We've sold a lot of them as well, but that could be just because people have gone "holy shit, there's a new NIN album? I'm going to buy it even though I haven't heard anything from it"

Kind of like the new System of a Down CD, "Mezmerize".

The new Limp Bizkit, however, sucks more cock than Andy's maw. Absolute and utter shite.

I hate NIN now. I used to think they were okay and 'Hurt' was even one of my favorite songs at one time. But unfortunately someone forever ruined them for me. I had a Goth roommate this past semester who decided to bless me by playing 'The Hand that Rocks' repeatedly for hours every single day for a month. He would even rewind small sections and play it over and over again. He had burned that one song on a mix CD a month before the album came out, but he only ever played that song for the entire fucking time.

At this point I still think it's a bit boring, but I guess I just need to hear it a couple or a thousand more times :-/

"Further Down the Spiral" rocks, but that's maybe because I still haven't heard "The Downward Spiral" yet?

Is that a swipe at Green Day? I suggest you do yourself a favor and listen to 'American Idiot' before you make any judgments. That album is far superior to this 'With Teeth' crap.

No? I have American Idiot, due only to the fact the Green Day was pretty good in the 90s and it'd be a shame to miss out on their current album, but American Idiot is just plain annoying. These guys are a shadow of their former self, playing crummy Good Charlotte-esque mainstream punk nonsense. Everyone else might be into it, but I can't stand it.

Also, complaining about The Hand That Feeds while having nothing to say about Green Day's heniously overplayed and cheesy 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' seems kind of nonsensical to me.

'American Idiot' is probably the weakest song on the album (and it's been abused by a ton of shitty movies, I agree). If you like rock operas though, it's great. I especially like 'Jesus of Suburbia'. Besides that, the only Green Day album I care for is 'Dookie'.

And thanks for dropping me a star, possums. I appreciate it.

Green Day sucks. They pretty much always did, but the standard of what sucks these days is skewed. It used to be that No Doubt, Bush, and Green Day were the suckiest of the suck and nothing could suck worse. The thing was, IT WAS MUSIC. Bad music, but still music. Now we have shit like Good Charlotte and Newfound Glory and a bunch of other PURE SHIT. Compared to them, I long for the days of Green Day, Offspring, and other mediocrity. Back then you could tell the shit from the gold. Nowadays, it's ALL DIFFERENT DEGREES OF SHIT.

Now, as for American Idiot, anything on With Teeth has got to be leaps and bounds better than what's on Green Day's new album. American Idiot is a shit song which really doesn't do a hell of a lot for the image Green Day is trying to portray considering they've sold that song to just about every upcoming movie.

Yes, it was a dig at Greenday. I have heard the album "American Idiot" in its entirety, and I am not a fan. "Holiday" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" are OK, the rest is pretty damn awful. As has previously been stated, it's a pile of Good Charlotte.

And lukket, there are versions on Further Down The Spiral which compete rather well with the originals on The Downward Spiral. The version of Ruiner on FDTS is actually better than the one on TDS, in my opinion. But it's good to listen to both in order to compare.

If we're going to jump on the Greenday hate wagon, why don't we mention the pile of utter shite that Warning was? I believe that American Idiot was a great bounce-back from the crap that was Warning. Yes, "Minority" was a good song, but christ. The rest of the album was bullshit.

I dig 'American Idiot'. My favourite song on the album is Extraordinary Girl.

What amuses me more is that the original Greenday question was fielded to you, and you have yet to state a band that does matter. Unless you think no bands matter, in which case why bother posting in a thread about Nine Inch Nails...?

In the grand scheme of things, no bands really matter. Half a century from now all today's music will be forgotten, and kids will be studying "That stupid musical era of electric instruments that lasted maybe 70 years tops" in school for maybe a week of their school year. Also, the only names mentioned (and briefly at that) will be The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

In 70 years, holograms representing Men At Work will rule the world with an iron fist. Think the Soviet Union infused with 80's Australian hair rock. 'Down Under' will be the anthem... of the world. Their motto plastered on every propaganda poster in Men City will be "Every Man is a Man At Work." The Macarena Rebellion almost succeeded in overthrowing them, but alas they were crushed. That is the future. It has been forseen.

I have heard the entire American Idiot album in its entirety as well, and I realized right then that Green Day still sucked as much as they always had. With Teeth seems rather bland as NIN goes, but I'll still give a listen.

As for biped, he's biped. Nothing more can be done about him as he exists in his own continuum.
