Since I discovered this site, I have been a big fan of it.

I emailed Scott Adams of Dilbert about it. I mentioned that I am not its creator, but it gave poor schmo's like me a chance to 'create'.

Here is his response;

John,

That's an interesting site. I can't donate art, but I like it.

Cool!

I've assessed the situation and I can say that your email system is working fine.

I've had time to analyze this deeper and has reached the conclusion that you are also able to post messages.

I think this site getting a nod from Dilbert creator Scott Adams is a pretty cool thing.

no, it's pretty cool. some sort of happy medium between your newbie clueless enthusiasm and our jaded lethargy would be the aristotelean golden mean.

I totally understand that it sounds like I am enthusiastic and thats not 'leet'.

However, the day I discovered this site it was advertised on YTMND. I donated immediately. Because to be honest, I love it.

I agree, that more art is great. Presumptous of me to think that Brad may even be so inclined to add the art. However, yeah Larson would rock.

So would just a collection of Star Trek characters. For some reason Captain Worf is funny.

You'll have to get used to non-copyrighted material, or make your own photoshopped comic. The legalities involved could cost Brad a whole lot of money if things go south. If you look at some of the older comics you'll see Bongo from Matt Groening's Life is Hell comics; I'm pretty sure there's a good reason we can't use him now.

I'm working on getting some personal artwork submitted to Brad for the site, but since most of my free time (ironically) is at work, it's been slow going in actually finishing said artwork.

I'm pretty sure we don't have Bongo anymore because somebody came in here randomly and made a very big deal about it, and Brad deleted the characters to appease him/shut him the hell up.

Scott Adams' secretaries were all found dead -- MURDERED -- the day before that e-mail was sent, and the room they were found in was locked -- FROM THE INSIDE.

I'd be more impressed if he could get Charles Schultz to donate art.

I'm willing to wager that Scott Adams would be glad to donate art, if he were allowed to. I bet he has no real control over who gets to use his characters/art, considering the TV show and the newspaper syndication. It's more than likely that it's completely out of his hands.

The same could be said for just about any well-known artist. It's not feesable to expect that anyone who is syndicated could donate if he/she wanted.

I think a lot of artists would be reluctant, just because they don't want their characters used for comics about cornholing and killing black people.

It's not so much that, but the number of complaint letters to newspaper editors. It doesn't take much for a paper to drop a comic, and a lot of people get worked up pretty easily.

Getting someone like Max Cannon to donate some art would be a lot easier than Scott Adams.
