i was thinking the use of it would be more like "check out this or this that i made earlier today" because it's hard and/or irritating having to keep track of the threads in all the forums constantly.

yes i know about the "show active threads" link, but it's still not always useful for something you want to be seen right away instead of having to wait for a response in the forums.

I hate IRC, so maybe this "chat box" would be something that I'd like. For that reason alone, we should have one.
