Probably old news to most of you web-savvy cock-gobblers, but Pandora (part of the Music Genome Project) is a pretty good thing.

Short summation for those afraid of the unknown:
It's basically a web radio station that tries to guess what you like based on your feedback. In the vein of the music recommendations on amazon. Requires cookies a'course, as it recognizes you whenever you go back. You can buy the songs it plays on iTunes, I guess.

So anyway, I've tried it three or so times. Alright, it was exactly three times. I'm really picky when it comes to music, and I think it does quite an alright job. Give it a try, it's free and everything.

Yeah, it's old news to me.

Going further though, for those who think that their musical tastes are too obscure to be known by a place like this, I can safely say that you're most likely wrong.

The trials and tribulations of trying to put a website together would make a very funny play, and it could be called WEBSITE!

DX, since it doesn't care about genre, it will do that.

I was shocked when I put in a really down-tempo and crushing tune by Disembowelment and it kept coming up with lighter, completely non-metal stuff... but it was all good, even though it wasn't as soul-crushing. It had the same feel and as well a slow tempo.

I found it a while back and played with it for a few weeks. I first told it to give me music like Iron Maiden and Danzig... it did pretty good, except for the Korn songs that kept popping up. Luckily, after you say no to a band 3 times it never plays that band again.

You might think that a thread should be started in hopes of creating lively discussion, perhaps lasting several pages. In this case, however, my goal was simply to inform. Imagine my confused glee when I came back only hours later to find 10 replies! Good god, I'm drunk!

In other news, I feel that as long as teenagers write shitty music in garages with their friends and can find cassette recorders in a dollar store, TAPES WILL NEVER DIE.

I don't care what you say, boorite.

Fuck yeah! Cassette forever! That's the only stuff I use for my mixes. The 10 or 40 extra minutes you can get from a tape mix over a CD mix makes a world of difference.

Old school for life.

I really hate this thing. I was forced to listen to Moby, which I don't enjoy. And now a DISNEY MIX CD. Dear god, what did I do wrong? And it won't let me skip because I skipped a bunch of other artists "already this hour".

Start a new station. That's how I skip songs whenever I've exceeded my limit. Last I checked it wasn't smart about that.

I just decided to sit through it. I'm trying to identify exactly which songs I do like in this genre of music/style of music, which so far, aren't many.

Im really enjoying this, very interesting, although doesnt always play what I want to hear, or expect, but I guess thats the point.

You were at the fake funeral that was held for gullible people who were secretly videotaped so that people could watch the tape and laugh at it.
