I've been looking into opening a Spreadshirt shop for Stripcreator. I sold basically nothing from the Cafe Press shop when I linked it on here, but the designs were really limited.

For $500 I could use the Spreadshirt designer:

http://www.spreadshirt.com/shop.php?sid=1000

Which would let me have a Stripcreator shop where I can upload art and then you guys could customize the layout, text and color of whatever you wanted on a per-shirt basis.

Is this something you guys would be interested in? $500 is a lot to sink into something if nobody's going to buy a thing from it. But the designer struck me as something you guys would be uniquely interested in.

Seems a bit pricey to me. I'm not sure you could get $500 worth of SC goodness sold.

Can I have any of my favorite comic strips printed onto a pretty pink t-shirt?

They don't have any men's shirts in pink, crabby. If you don't mind wearing a ladies' shirt then sure.

Brad, I'm going to have to side with DX here. I don't think you'd regain your money in profits with this.

If you didn't sell any in the past, I don't know why you'd sell it now. Save your money for a server with more testosterone!

Well, the Cafe Press stuff had no element of creativity to it and the design wasn't particularly inventive:

http://www.cafepress.com/stripcreator

I thought people might be more interested in something where they could, say, put the cowboy character on a shirt and customize the text that goes with it. Something like the Chuck Norris Facts store.

Are you talking about putting individual user's comics on the shirts?

The stripcreator tee I'd wear would just be a giant graphic on the front showing a one-panel default comic. Dont underestimate the captivating, mysterious nature of that default screen. That'd be the kind of shirt people'd ask you "What the HELL does that mean?"

I'm gonna have to say it's not a good idea. Not only do I say this for the reasons listed above, but because I just tried to use the thing from the link you listed and I'm sorry, but if it takes that long to even get halfway through the loading on Cable, then there's no way your dialup users are going to bother with it. Hell, I didn't even wait for it to finish loading.

I gotta say, I'd love to see my art on a string thong.

I'll have to sit this one out though, the only way it'd be worth shipping to Aus is if I buy in bulk, and I'm not going to have any money until after my wedding.

Whats the difference between a mens and womans t shirt? I want every single one of my comics on pink tee's.

As much as I would love a custom SC t-shirt making facility, $500 would be a bad investment, in my opinion. I mean, how many t-shirts would you have to sell to break even?

I'll take 3 cowboy physics shirts on a teal shirt.

I'd rather be dead than wear or be in possesion of an SC button.

Not even a kick ass lavender asian girl button.

I'm interested, but poor, as I think is the case with many others here.

Now, if you could set up a sweat shop employing only SC users, and pay them in one shirt a week, I think you'd have something.

Aye, I would like a shirt as well, but yeah, it's a bit too expensive.

To me, the only real advantage of this would be having shirts printed on black rather than white. That's hardly enough to make it worth the exorbitant prices they charge.

I think it's an interesting idea, if a bit expensive. Until recently, my wardrobe has consisted of nothing but tshirts with things on them. Now it's all solid-colored, but I wouldn't mind wearing a cowboy physics tshirt now and then.

I'd kind of like to see it, but as people said, it's a bit expensive, especially for one person to swallow. I'm interested enough that I'd even help you pay for the startup costs if you decided to do it. Maybe if people are interested enough, we could take up a collection?

Hrm...giving a Tobor cornhole tshirt as a gift...

If I donate enough to the start up fund can I sit on the SC board of owners and discuss which of the new art will be added?

Okay they offered me a different deal. No $500 up front, but instead a lower commission rate which rises as the sales increase. Anyway I figure I have nothing to lose by doing that.

So now I have to gather some high-res artwork for use on the shirts. Any requests? I'm going to dig through my old archives and see what I have in vector format. Probably a lot of the Three Reasons stuff...

I'll see if I can create some T-Shirt designs for you if I have any time. Then again, if anyone wants to design something they could send it my way and I could trace it for them. You know, as long as I don't think it's shit.

Another thing to keep in mind is to try and make a few t-shirts that aren't just in-jokes but funny and nice looking all on their own. This way you may get a bit of business by non-SC types.
