Christ, Kaenash. Every other post of your has to do with WOW or some other video game. Do you ever go outside, or do you spend your non-gaming time looking at game-related pictures on the Internet?

I'd rather watch the new series. The one with computer graphics. It's pretty good http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2006/04/11/30667.shtml">See what I mean?

The new series is like saying you would rather listen to "Touch of Grey" at a Grateful Dead Concert or watch Star Trek 'Voyager' over TOG/TNG.

Just the most well-known and longest lived incarnation of the Doctor. The fact that he is the prototypical Doctor (despite being the 4th) certainly skews people's opinions of him. That being said, I thought he was quite cool and played "eccentric alien" quite well.

Anyone else think that Doctor Who is more like Hitchhiker's Guide than the movie was?

I will admit, the new doctor who is pretty funny at times. He has some classic lines.

I like how those aliens farted all the time in the series where they were trying to conquer the world to sell it.

They didn't want to conquer it, they wanted to destroy it.

You're right. Everything new is crappier than the old. What the hell are you doing playing crappy things like Oblivion and WOW when there's the REAL classics like Zork and Pong? WOW and Oblivion are mere shades and could never live up to the splendor of monochromatic adventure.

And while you're at it, get rid of that crappy computer of yours. If it was made after 1984 then it's just a poor copy of the originals which are the TRUE AND BEST OF ALL.

Get over it already.

Some things are classics. Like for instance, Classic Coke over "New Coke"

While other things, the latest computer, or the hottest porn stars, need upgrading.

Life is complicated. I never said it was always going to be one way.

TV is hardly complicated.

I'm just completely fed up with the fanboy attitude that any remake, spinoff, or movie version is automatically worse than the original because it's not exactly like the original. I know they want all the original cast members, sets, writers, etc to keep on going forever, but due to this thing called "aging" and "stale plots by season 2," it's not going to happen. I'm not saying Voyager is better than TNG...far from it. But I'm sick and tired of people discounting anything new.

I like the new Dr Who. It's reminiscent of the Tom Baker years in the humor and weirdness. And by the logic that any new series isn't as good as the previous, where does that leave every Doctor from 1966 and up? Does that mean any of those series are worse than William Hartnell just because he came first and is the original Doctor? I liked Sylvester McCoy, but since he came after Tom Baker, does that automatically make him worse?

Also, I thought the remake of the He-Man cartoon was much better than the original.

Though, I shall stop speaking blasphemy lest I say something like "I really didn't think any of the star wars movies were worth becoming a mythos."

Yeah, Kaenash, some things are "classic," like the works of Shakespeare. You know what isn't "classic?" A fucking low-budget sci-fi TV series or a faddish jam band that some drug-addled hippies mistook for a way of life. Pretending to have taste in matters of pop culture is so fucking pointless.

Exactly.
Only if you wait 300 years can we add some measure of respect to anything.

Would someone who thought that Shakespeare was classic when he was alive, be a fucking low budget theater fanboy?

Do we need to wait 300 years to find the beatles Classic?

Me prefering original Grateful Dead to Touch of Grey, or TNG to the later shit is a matter of personal preference. Rather than be entirely apathetic as if it somehow 'gay' to give a shit, I have a preference. so sue me.

Additionally, I think the new He-man isn't bad, but the only animation I will actually TIVO is "Avatar". It grows on you.

Um, no. You can't. Age does not automatically confer respectability on any old dreck. This is a notion propagated by persons who, lacking a critical faculty, believe there is no such thing.

No. The Elizabethan literary scene hardly resembled one of your sci-fi "cons"-- although commoners did get their chance to enjoy productions at the Globe.

In 300 years, very few people will give a fuck about the Beatles.

On the other hand, why exactly are they remaking the Posideon Adventure and the Omen? Was there really something wrong with the original Omen? Was the Posideon Adventure really a good enough movie to warrant being remade?

Will Scooby Doo find out who the bad guy is? Will Don Knotts rise from the grave and scare the residents of Mayberry once again with one bullet?

its like Stairway to heaven. You telling me, that redoing is neccesary?

I can't stand a lot of covers, simply because the artist doesn't bring anything new to it that enhances the material in a way that seems worth a shit to me.

I once heard Ratt do a cover of my favorite Van Halen song, and I wanted to ask "Mr Big" to kick their ass.

Covers aren't the same as remaking movies. An artist who does a cover is usually giving a nod to the people who inspired him/her A movie being redone is generally just hollywood trying to make more money off a stale idea.

Technically all ideas are stale, as there hasn't been an original idea in hundreds of years. Just better effects and higher salaries.
