Okay, a little experiment in strip structure here.

/comics/fuzzyman/276411/

I did a set of strips last year about "Stripcreator Network News." The idea was that the news anchors (Betty Butterworth and Jake Jemima) would cut to the videotape or remote location in the second panel, which was always something ridiculous. Then there'd be some throwaway line back in the studio for the final panel.

So what you end up with is this:

Panel1: Setup
Panel2: Big Punchline
Panel3: Little Punchline

So, your mission. Make a strip in that structure. Use the Stripcreator Network News framework if you like, or make up your own. You have a lot of room for experimentation here. The middle panel can be some other place ("Meanwhile..."), some other time, or some other medium.

Series up to 5 strips are okay. Political strips making fun of George "29% Approval Rating" Bush always welcome.

More examples here.

CONTEST UPDATE

Okay, I think I messed up in picking a contest theme. Maybe it was too complicated, or maybe it was just stupid. So let's try something else.

It's May Sweeps here in the US. That means that TV networks are pulling out all the stops to attract an audience. It also means that the local newscasts are increasingly sensational and over-the-top.

Therefore, portray for me a newscast or newscast promo that may have gone too far.

The previously entered comics are still in the competition. If you want to enter a comic using the old rules, that's fine, too.

Judgement on Sunday.

JUDGEMENT

Well, it was a tough choosing between this one:

/comics/HCRoyall/351458/

...and this one.

/comics/biped/351380/

In the end, biped wins for making fun of David Blaine.

Congratulations, and have at it.
