Normally I'm weirdly against linking to outside sites for features, but I decided to make an exception after reading this:

Poor spelling and grammatical errors when participating in a Community Forum not only make your messages difficult to read, they can damage your credibility as the author. Adding SpellChecker to your community will spark participation and add spirit to any bulletin board.

Doesn't that sound nice?

(Interesting fact: When I ran this post through it, it took issue with the word 'SpellChecker' and suggested 'Speechmaker' instead.)

well, that's just plain utopian. after all, anyone too illiterate to proofread their own posts will give up halfway through the word "spell" on that button.

I don't think many people will use it, to be honest.

"wehn a man loves a women HE NALE'S THE FUCKIN BITCH" translates to "wen a man loves a women HE NAPLES' THE FUCKIN BITCH".

Not bad.

I decided to find out how well the spell-checker does as a French-to-English translator...

quote:

Works pretty durn good!

actually, though, it would be a bit more helpful if there were any way to implement it on the comic-creation page. it would probably be hell to do, what with all the potential fields in which one can misspell, but i'm much more concerned about making a typo in a comic that lives for all posterity, than in a post that will be forgotten in a couple of days, ja?

I disagree. I think half the fun of some comics is the accidental/blatant misspelling of so many words.

And yes , i will be waiting to see the next person to misspell "aspirate"

What I want to know is, how will we know who to mock and ostracize if everyone's posts are spelled correctly?
