Despite my morbid fondness for watching horrible tragedies unfold on the news, I'm thrilled that the terrorist plot to blow up planes coming from UK to America was disrupted....

... Especially considering MY FAMILY were scheduled to fly out from Heathrow to Logan airport in Boston on the EXACT day (8/16- next wednesday) that plot was supposed to take place. Freaky. Who knows if they would have been on one of those planes, but I do know not having a family would kinda suck. I would be like a 23 year old Macauly Culkin... with hookers and a booze problem, instead of robbers calling themselves the "sticky bandits." But I digress...

Oh. While we're on the subject of Islamic terrorism, anyone who believes that "loose change" bullshit really needs to be shot. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but apparently some Muslims DO want to blow Americans up. Whoddathunkit...

Of course, both sides of the political "line" are using this whole incident as a talking point.
The right is saying that it shows just how effective our loss of rights is when it comes to saving us from terrorists, while the left is going off on how this just shows that we haven't accomplished anything by going to war in Iraq.
You know what? They're both actually right. Though, I think the latter's point may be the more important one here. I'm just glad that if something was going to happen, it's not now. At least, I hope it's not.
The problem is that fighting terrorism with guns is like fighting water with a sword. Everywhere you swing the sword, the water breaks apart and goes away, but not for long. And all you've really done is moved the water somewhere else for a while.
I agree that terrorism is a problem these days, and it's not just limited to some angsty idiots with guns who are pissed off at america. The point isn't to blame someone. The problem is here. We're not going to fix it with guns. I don't have any better ideas of course, but it feels like a waste of energy.

It's good to know how the bald community feels about this situation.

I'm so glad that you could contribute to a serious topic with your usual childish triviality.

DragonXero's right. i had snakes on that plane for gods sake

bussssinessss classss. they're pissssed.

i'm glad your family's okay, Inflate. we recently had a couple serial killers going around Phoenix, which hasn't happened here before. it really brought home the idea of terrorism to me. couple of fucktards can change how a whole group of people think and behave. it's psychological warfare

thanks, mandingo.

I heard about that shit in Phoenix. One down, one to go right? This might not be my most profound thought, but people really need to stop killing other people and chill the fuck out.

I missed all this nonsense by three weeks. I don't know why, but I had a strange feeling when I was in the airport leaving London last month. I started looking around at the passengers on my flight, trying to reassure myself that none of them were terrorists. Later, while flying over the Atlantic, I had those same feelings while looking out the window, and I started wondering what it would be like if the plane blew up, would they find anything, how would my parents take it, etc.

I never get thoughts like that, even on the UK flight I took 5 days after Lockerbie.

w0rd. what sucks is both were going around killing people for nearly a year before the police put it together and told everyone there were serial killers on the loose :\
