I was just on the receiving end of a botched mugging! Two guys followed me in to the parking lot of the local shopping district and then told me to hand over my laptop, seemingly unaware that it was the middle of the day and that the lot was full of cars and people. And also apparently unaware that they had no actual weapons with which to actually threaten me. And also apparently unaware that in my un-muscular state I was about as big as they were. I flagged down a car in about three seconds (the driver thought I was actually trying to hijack it at first) and the pair penguin-ran away. Yes, penguin-ran. Because when you want to look inconspicuous, you run like a couple of penguins.

I nominate this mugging as the best mugging ever. Appletini's all around.

Maybe they wanted to see how awesomely cool your laptop was and wanted to look at it and congrulate you on owning such a fine piece of hardware.

It was on double-sale.

can you pick that penguin out of a line up? (suddenly inspired to make a comic.) at a minimum, how about a contest to make comics announcing the crime, the (trivially small?) reward, location, etc. if only we had a crime fighting comic character with superpowers.. oh wait.

Mall security was really lame, but they actually had a parking lot video of the 'crime.' Apparently these daring theives have failed at robbing two other people, striking in the very inconspicuous and dark hours of 1:30-4PM.

Naw, they put them to work by the police station picking up garbage and cleaning the sidewalk. They just caught them in the same place they commited the crime. Although your idea would make an excellent reality show. "Round Two!" next after Family Guy.

If they are doing community service at the mall, it should be possible for mall security to find out who they are, get you that info, so you can post it here (if you want - there are reasons for and against.)

if they ask why, you discussed it with a lawyer (one who moonlights as a crimefighting insectivorous mammal) and you might be planning to seek restitution for the assault.

As a matter of fact, I might just be able to go snag some video of them. I'd have to blur the faces, but I can do some crazy Madden-style circling. So long as someone doesn't mug me for my camera on the way to the bus.

Blur out the faces then draw sad faces over the blurs.
