I took Ian to the library today to get some books. As we were leaving I took a peek at the software in the kid's section and grabbed this Curious George graphics program.

It's maybe 10 years old, but works great. It's basically a one-panel Stripcreator with Curious George artwork. There's about 30 different backgrounds along with hundreds of character and prop stamps that you can resize, flip and place anywhere on the page. It's pretty neat. I had to do a little Photoshopping of my own so there was space to add text.

Kinda off topic again, but I just started watching Spaced, it's basically the TV show that the people who made Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead done before making the movies. It's pretty much the same kind of sense of humour with random movie and pop culture references.

Also its fucking hysterical.

Shaun of the Dead is basically Spaced but with zombies. And my ex-colleague was an extra in SotD. Which has nothing to do with Extras.

This is the new trend in media.

Old method - book, tv show, etc., viewer responds passively and linearly.

New method - media establishes a framework, a set of tools which the consumer users to remix and personalize the content.

Which, according to bruno bettlehiem, is what kids were doing all along.

Why does the 5 year old want to watch that scoobydoo tape 300 times? Because he's using it as a framework, and within that framework is daydreaming his own stories.

I havent read it, but there's a book about the curious george backstory - the author had run-ins with the nazis, barely escaped, etc.

Haha as much as you repulse me personally - that was funny.---
I hate rap and don't feel I should have to listen to yours at stoplights.

Agree.

Also according to him a heartless, bitchy mom will make you autistic.

I do this too, only with porn instead of Scooby Doo. Though I have to admit I've daydreamed about a Velma/Daphne sandwich before, with me starring as the creamy center.

Are you agreeing that I'm repulsive, or that you shouldn't have to listen to other people's music, or both?

Off topic again, but Spaced is ace. If you can find it on youtube, then take a look at Episode 5 from Season 2. I think its just called 'Gone', but its the best episode of any television program ever. Even better than that one in Only Fools and Horses where they're trapped in an office above a supermarket with an 'infamous' theif called 'Shadow', and marginally better than episode 4 of that same series in Spaced, which is also ace. That sentence is too long. There should really be about five sentences in a paragraph of this size. Meh. I've made amends now.

I remember watching Spaced on telly when it was on (1999 ish) and it hasn't lost any of its appeal, even after the millionth viewing on DVD.

"I had to dress up as an elderly Israeli woman once"

"Did you?"

"I didn't have to"

"...we should talk..."

Oh.... and ace pics Gabe, you bald genius you.

Okay, gotta get that Curious George software! Our downtown library has all that media stuff, but I never thought about looking for software.

I just realized the title of this thread is "Your Pubic Library." For some reason I kept seeing "public." This is opposite of normal, where I see a word like "public" and read "pubic."
