About a week or so back there was a post in general discussion with the title “We never had that much fun in high school”, and it got me thinking about all the hijinks and shenanigans I used to get up to in my ‘skool daze’, which I can look back on fondly now as beer has erased most of the unpleasant memories and trauma associated with educational establishments, or has painted over the unfunny with the distorted rose-tinted view that my exploits back then were akin to those of ferris bueller when in reality I was probably a bit of an irritating oik. In any case I decided to make that the theme of this contest.

Whilst I’d probably be right in assuming most of us were/are part of the social underclass in the school pecking order, Im sure most of you have some stories to tell, or some wrongs to avenge, so why not do it in comic form?

Make a comic about your school days, class mates (even in a retrospective whats spotty james up to now sort of way), reunions, or a school or class based comic in general. Im going to allow oldies as well for the uninspired, but new comics are always appreciated.

Alternatively if that sounds too much of a stretch then do a comic about the sitcom Happy Days  “AA-AAY!”

Marking will be in about a weeks time. Also to class swots wanting extra credit, teacher prefers neat bourbon to apples.

Embarassingly 100% true.

Sadly, this comic (far from being funny on its own) needs some explanation. There was this girl... really shrill, annoying and pushy. We called her Grendel, after the beast from "Beowulf." And when she came around, we used to sing this to her to piss her off:

When do you think you'll be judging? I actually have some other ideas poking around in my head I'd like to enter when I'm not feeling so sick.

That is the greatest series ever.

This subject is especially appropriate. My ten-year high school reunion has come and gone and I purposely missed it. I feel so pleased to have ruined the 100% attendance goal that the planners put out.

I found the skirt I wore to my senior prom the other day. I'm pleased that it's still stylish today. Even though at the time I was going for "bad scifi movie."

I found boorite's prom picture yesterday. I've been forbidden from ever showing anyone. His girlfriend was adorable and he was wearing pants (though who knows for how long).

To think that when the picture was taken, I was the ripe old age of...5.

In a filing box marked "storage" along with his high school transcript, college papers, and dirty cartoons he drew.

I was smart enough to burn all traces of my past.

Hatrix

Here is my submission for this project. I'm including a few old ones in the hopes of sucking up and getting extra credit.

They're from a series I did to commemorate all the wonderful memories I have of my early years in a poorly run, underfunded, back woods, government institution that they called a "school". I'm told they might even reduce my meds if this works out.

Old toons second....be sure to check out the entire skool daze series for a few laughs.

I wouldn't come out, either. They eventually sent in a male teacher to get me, and I went peacefully at that point. The principal called my Mom and Dad and told them. They were like, "So what?" The principal let me off with a warning.

Never did have sex with that girl...

The windows were the old crank-out type that slanted up if cranked enough. There had to be splashback into the room.

Originally, my buddy had wanted to open one of the school's many skylights and piss in the second story hallway, but I talked him out of that. Pissing off of a building turned out to be pretty cool anyway.

Ok class, thank you to those who did their homework, I enjoyed reading them all; Gabe’s story of how best to handle volatile chemicals, Eric’s handling of a school pest, Chicka’s handling of a drummers stick!, not to mention her beautifully told moral tale reminding us why we don’t mess with the space time continuum as well as her story of the crazy over-stimulated teacher which Im sure must have been a hiring requirement at most schools (*Edit* not to mention that late flurry of entries for extra credit, especially the ‘most likely’ comic) . Ivy reminded the class that some people never change including dads, and gets extra marks for the ironic hypocrisy and blindsided ignorance of school policies.

I also enjoyed coldpizza’s manwiches, the divine splendour of the mind picture of that lost episode of Happy Days given by RedFeatheR, as well as Biped’s tale of the Fonz jumping the shark. Credit to Arbi for agreeing that the sweet brown poison is indeed neat. I was engrossed by Hatrix’s nun from hell and her comeuppance, Umfum’s tale of missed opportunities and not missing windows, HC's mathematical shenanigans as well as Humpenstein’s beautiful takedown of an over pompous English teacher, and the joys in seeing how the mighty have fallen.

Anyway on to the marks, everyone gets an A (or should that be an AAEEYY!)

The following were in the top set:

Ivy’s Pick and Choose

Coldpizza’s A Memory of Most Mondays,

RedFeatheR’s Crappy days

Umfum’s up on the rooftop

Humpenstein’s Ode to the McHighschool Reunion

But gold star this week is: Attitudechicka, It was a close contest with a few other stripers and your entries band camp and ‘I swear Im going somewhere with this’, but those late comics, especially senior superlatives pushed the result in your favour. Congrats.

TG, I rated that comic good before you ever posted it.

Why am I still sucking up?

New contest up as soon as I get the sleep out of my eyes.
