well, my first win after 2 honorable mentions and only 27 comics is making me feel conceited. So the subject of this contest is me.

1) If you live in Ohio, or have ever lived in Ohio, you must make a joke about Ohio (in jokes are okay, as long as I get them). If you have never lived in Ohio, you must make a joke about San Francisco or Louisiana (the two other places I've lived).

2) Since you know probably know little or nothing about me, you should use my LiveJournalentries, interests list, or yahoo photos to find a suitable topic for your comic. And while I will understand your topic better than anyone else, your comic should still be funny to someone who hasn't slogged thru my entire online Journal (which I don't recommend doing anyway). Posts/comments I've made in SC forums are also fair game.

3) Unlike the Wirthling sucks contest, the main point of this contest is NOT to put me down. You can do that and still win if it's funny and pertinent, of course, but "lara7's mama" jokes and the like as the sole lara7 content of your strip will be disqualified.

4)this strip by Gabe is an example of the type of thing that could win: 36074

except it is disqualified because it does not make a joke about Ohio.

5) If you know me in Real Life, you have an unfair advantage, and thus must follow these rules as well; a) you may not use any pronouns (he,we,I,they, etc) or possessives (my, mine, hers, our etc) and b) you may not use any human characters in your strip.

You have until Wednesday 11:59pm (EST) to get your entires in; winner should be posted soon after.

Take your pick ...

  1. Where's the "UP YOURS" in PEDANTIC???? :-)
  2. Well, duh, it's silent.
  3. About 30 miles southeast of Monroe.
  4. It's a fact that the Killer Bs have crept up the Gulf Coast ...
  5. Short for Baton Rouge.
  6. So I misspelled "oil". Wasn't gonna win anyway :-)

My first impression was to remake the Boys Life joke about where Audrey the Cow hangs out, but you deserve better. So without further ado:

The fawn's mother was shot and eaten, but now she's back again.

That's odd, remade does.

Here in Lousania we all use the possessive pronoun. Y'all should try it sometime.

wow. Most of these strips made me laugh hard. I hope ya'll had as much fun with this as I did, egotism aside. speaking of which..

The Lemur memorial Dis-honorable mentions go to the two strips that not only complained about the rules within the strip, but also mis-spelled "yer" and "Francisco", respectively. You know who you are.

also, while I liked Namgubed and LadyJ's strips (more Captain Monosyllabic, yay!), I felt they did not actually fulfill the requirement of making fun of the places I've lived. LadyJ, this may be the first time someone's said you need to be more biting and vicious, but there it is. :-)

The Runners Up:

Kaufman for both "Anagram Anne" (despite the extraneous "b" in Louisiana) and "Press Conference":
42561
42647

"Ooh, I lob mucus" sums up the Columbus experience more than you know.

Boorite for the corrected "Round on the ends"
42678
Kudos for managing to make a funny strip under the additional non-pronoun/non-humans restrictions. That, and for portraying my nemesis, the Horsed Faced Whore as the pink donkey. Genius.

KramerVsKramer for his deliciously horrible pun.
42664

But the winner is the person who:
Made a joke about Ohio, delivered by a Canadian
Made power newbie jokes without using the word "power newbie"
Coined the word "ArtCat"
And most importantly, in a contest about egotism, put his own name in the strip as well as mine:
42589

Congrats Israphael!

I enjoyed israphael's use of my forumuser character saying something relevant to something I posted in a forum a few days ago, yet not bitching about something I said. That's rare. :)

I promise to be more biting and vicious in the future, lara.

I was just gonna vote for attitudechicka because she's such a babe, but that would have looked really suspect considering she didn't submit a strip for the contest.

Seriously, I had a hard time deciding, and you'll note kaufman and kramer both made it to the final cut. I was leaning towards one of Kaufman's strips, but considering he made the contest that I won, that might have looked like some sort of backscratching/ log-rolling thing, so ya'll might have bitched at me for that. All of the finalists submitted funny strips, but in the end, I picked the one that was funniest to me.

so blow me.

er, I mean, peace out.

Sorry I didn't mean it to sound that way. When I saw Kaufman's two strips I thought it was time to throw in the towel, because those two strips would be hard to beat.

I'm still amazed by the Audrey Meadows pun!

Though you'd have been excused because chicka recently won a contest and wasn't here to host ...

No hard feelings -- I've sat in your chair and done the exact same thing :-)

Plus I leave for Vegas tomorrow, and might not have the time to properly administer a contest (and I've got what I think is a great idea for the next one I host, but it will be relatively labor-intensive on my own part). At least I can enter CC 80 freely -- there's so much good stuff coming down that pipeline, no matter how brilliant my comics are, I'll be really unlucky if I win.
